TUTORIAL: How To Make/Upload An Avatar Or Signature

I made this tutorial to show people how to make and upload and Avatar and a Signature for using on the Jonas Brothers Fan Forum Boards. If you have read all the steps and still have trouble please post on this board and I will answer next time I am on. Also if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! How to make an Avatar or Signature

There are three ways you can get and Avatar or Banner:

1) By making one yourself (see below for more details)

2) By finding a pre-made and using that (you can get them from fansites)

3) By asking someone to make one for you on the 'Signatures' board To make your own Avatar or Banner you need an image editing application, some examples of image editing applications are:

1) Paint (comes with windows operating system)

2) Adobe Photoshop Elements

3) Adobe Photoshop CS There are other image editing programs out there, so search around! Things to keep in mind when making an Avatar or Banner:

1) Avatars can only be of a certain File Type (see ‘To Upload Your Avatar’ section)

2 Avatars can only be 100x100 pixels (see ‘To Upload Your Avatar’ section)

3) Avatars can only be 1000KB in size (see ‘To Upload Your Avatar’ section)

4) A Banner can only be 400 pixels wide

Note: Site requirements may change in the future To Upload Your Avatar

1) Go to My Settings which is located up the top beneath the site banner as shown below:

2) It should bring you to a page that says ‘User Settings’, look down to where it has a Sub-heading that says ‘User Settings’ as well. Click the ‘+’ sign as displayed below:

3) Look down to the title that says 'Avatar:' Click the file button with the magnifying glass on it as shown below:

4) First make sure your avatar image meets the file requirements, then ‘Choose File’ , locate and select you avatar image. Click Upload and wait:

5) If it has successfully uploaded, You should see your avatar and a button that says 'Return', if you can't go back to step 3 and try re-uploading the image:

6) When it has been uploaded you need to go back to your User settings page and hit ‘Update’, if you don’t your Avatar will not show up:

To Upload Your Signature

1) First of all you need to upload your Banner to an external image hosting site, some examples of image hosting sites are:

Please follow the external site’s instructions on how to upload your Banner image

Photobucket requires you have an account before you can upload images, whereas Image shack doesn’t require you to have an account. There are more Image hosting sites out there, search around and find the one that works for you!

2) Once you have successfully uploaded your banner to an external Image hosting site, get the Image URL link.

3) Go to My Settings which is located up the top beneath the site banner as shown below:

2) It should bring you to a page that says ‘User Settings’, look down to where it has a Sub-heading that says ‘User Settings’ as well. Click the ‘+’ sign as displayed below:

3) Look down to the title that says 'Signature:' Put the following code (the tags that look like this ‘<>’ as shown below, in the text box next to the title:

4) When you have added the URL link of the Banner, click ‘Update’, if you don’t your Banner will not show up:

Then insert your Image URL for your banner that you got in Step 2, in between the quotations marks “” where it says ‘IMAGE URL HERE’ in the image above! If you can’t see the image above, copy and paste the URL Image link for your Banner into the quotations found below:

AND YOUR DONE!!! Congratulations you have successfully uploaded an Avatar and Banner that you can start using in the Forum!
