Chapter 2
I was quietly doing my addition and subtraction exercises when Jennifer suddenly raised her hand.
“Mrs. Robowsky! It’s stinky! I think it’s because Alex is sweaty!” she said, scrunching her nose and putting a finger under it.
“Now now, Jennifer, that’s not nice” Mrs. Robowsky said.
When Mrs. Robowsky went back to her desk and started writing something down on her notebook, I quickly turned to Jennifer and stuck my tongue out at her.
“Mrs. Robowsky!!! Alex did this to me!” she said as she stuck her tongue out, the whole class erupting in laughter.
“Alexandra Claire, did you just do that to Jennifer?”
Uh oh, she called me Alexandra Claire! I’m in trouble.
“How come you have a girly name but you don’t look like a girl?” Francine piped in.
“Yeah, Alex is a boy and she has cooties!” Jessica teased again.
“Girls, I will not tolerate teasing inside this classroom. Now, please finish your Math exercises. The bell will ring in any minute” Mrs. Robowsky said as everyone fell silent and went back to their notebooks.
As soon as the bell rang, I quickly grabbed my backpack and ran outside. I’m glad Mommy was going to pick me up today. I didn’t want to see any of those stupid girls again on the bus.
“Alex!”
I turned around and saw Joe Jonas running towards me. He looked funny because he was trying to fix his glasses and trying to wear his backpack while running at the same time. I wasn’t surprised when he stumbled and tripped.
“Hi Joe! What’s up?” I asked him, giggling.
“Are you laughing at me? Hey, that hurt you know” he said as he reached for my extended hand and stood up.
“I’m sorry. It was too funny.” I giggled again, “Ok, so what’s up?”
“You’re not riding the bus today?” he asked.
“Nope! Mommy’s picking me up!” I said excitedly.
“Lucky! I don’t like the bus. The girls are always so noisy! Hey, Jimmy told me that you have the Pokemon Ruby version already! You want to have a two player game?”
“You have it too?! Cool!!! Yeah, we should!” I said as we gave each other a high five.
“Oh! But we’re not allowed to bring our Gameboys to school remember?” I asked him.
“Oh yeah…” we both sighed and pouted.
“Wait! Maybe you can go over to my house! Or I can go to yours. I don’t know” he laughed looking confused.
“Ok I’ll ask my mom!”
“Cool!”
“Oh hey Joe… Um, I think you should head over there” I said, pointing to the kids making their way on to the bus.
“Ahhh! I don’t want to run after the bus again! Ok I’ll see you tomorrow Alex. I’ll ask my mom too! Bye!” he said as he ran.
“Did he say AGAIN?!” I laughed as I sat down by the steps and waited for my mom.
I saw Joe had gotten safely to the back of the line. He shot me a huge smile and waved at me.
This is so cool! Not a lot of people in our class have the Ruby version already. I hope mommy says I can go to Joe’s house or that he can go to ours.
