Hey guys, i hope you like this...comments please!
“Sparky! Come back!” Ashleigh giggled as she was pulled along by her hyper puppy. After a few minutes of being tugged along through the people playing in the park, a figure jumped in front of them.
“It’s alright, Ash, I got him!” It was Bre, her best friend. She caught the dog’s collar, bringing him to a halt. “Good boy, Sparks,” she said, running her hands through his fur.
Ashleigh skidded to a stop and leaned over, resting her hands on her knees as she gasped for air.
“Thanks, Bre,” she managed to say once she’d finally caught her breath.
“You’re welcome. You know what? Your puppy is crazy!” she commented, patting Sparky’s head fondly.
“Trust me, I know,” agreed Ashleigh, feeding Sparky a treat to keep him occupied. “So, where did you come from all of a sudden?”
“Oh, well, you see…” Bre’s cheeks reddened slightly.
“Ugh, Bre, don’t tell me you were going to stalk the Jonas house AGAIN! Even after you spent your entire paycheck on flowers to leave at their door?” Ashleigh rolled her eyes.
“What?” Bre asked innocently, crossing her arms. “Joe mentioned me on TV for that, in case you forgot. AND I got to meet him.”
Ashleigh just shook her head. “He was making fun of you!”
“So what? At least he remembered me! Does he know who you are? I didn’t think so. Well, I better go, Ash. Enjoy your crazy doggy.”
Ashleigh heaved a sigh and waved as her friend bounded off in the direction of the Jonas house.
“Like I’d want those Disney pretty boys to know me anyway,” she grumbled to herself. Suddenly, apparently finished with his bone and becoming bored, Sparky took off running again. Ashleigh yelped and clung to the leash helplessly.
“Spar-KY!” she screamed, attempting to pull the dog to a stop. But Sparky was enjoying himself way too much to pay attention to her. Tongue lolling out, he kept running straight along the path.
All of a sudden, he changed course, and Ashleigh craned her neck, attempting to see what had captured his attention.
“Oh crap!” she cried. For Sparky was headed straight for an unsuspecting guy and his (female) golden retriever puppy that, she noticed, seemed very well behaved.
“Sparky, no!” she screamed, pulling fruitlessly on the leash. Since that had no effect, she directed her voice elsewhere. “Hey! Watch out!”
The unknown guy turned, but it was too late. Sparky ran all around him, trying to get to the other dog. But, frightened, the other dog ran around Ashleigh. In the end, Ashleigh found herself pressed tightly up against the chest of the guy, the leashes tangled around their legs tightly.
“I am SO sorry,” Ashleigh apologized into his chest. God he smells soooo good…
His laugh rumbled against her cheek. “Eh, it’s ok. My dog’s just so sexy all the boys go crazy over her.”
She pulled back slightly to look up into his face. Was this guy for real? Oh, no there was definitely a teasing glint in his gorgeous eyes. She allowed herself to laugh, although she was feeling a bit confused. Where had she seen those sparkling brown eyes and that shaggy black hair before…?
Shaking away the thoughts, she said, “Well, I don’t doubt that that played more than a small part in this.” She bent to try to untangle the leashes ass he continued, “But I think it’s also cause my dog is a psycho.”
“Nah,” argued the guy, scratching behind Sparky’s ears. “He’s just like me. Can’t help but show off when pretty girls are around.”
Ashleigh’s fingers froze on the leashes and she looked up at him in surprise. He winked. Blushing, she ducked her head and returned to the detangling process, even though she was having absolutely no success.
“Here let me try,” the guy suddenly said, and soon his fingers were brushing against hers as he tugged at the bindings. “By the way, I’m Joe. And this is Roxy,” he gestured at the dog standing patiently nearby.
“Ashleigh,” she responded. “Oh, and Sparky.”
Finally, he managed to untie himself, but before he could help her, Roxy gave an unexpected lurch forward, trying to get to Sparky, whose leash Joe had tied around a nearby tree.
Ashleigh let out a squeal as her legs were pulled out from under her. But before she hit the grass, a strong arm caught her around the waist. Joe had caught her! For a moment, they just stared at each other in silence. Then, before she knew what was happening, he leaned forward and planted a long, sweet kiss on her lips.
Next thing she knew, she was being set upright and Joe was up and running after Roxy, who was now loose and running through the park.
“Catch ya later, Ash!” he called, and disappeared behind a group of people, leaving Ashleigh’s lips tingling and her heart pounding.
Suddenly, Bre was there next to her. “Ashleigh! What were you doing with Joe Jonas!?” she asked. But Ashleigh just stared ahead, as though in shock.
“Ash-Leigh!” Bre grabbed her shoulders and shook her lightly. “Why. Did. Joseph. Adam. Jonas. Just. Kiss. You?!”
Joe Jonas? That was a Jonas Brother? Oh God…
Ashleigh finally turned her eyes to her friend and shrugged, a sad look on her face. But then her eyes caught on Sparky and a slow smile spread across her face.
“It was just puppy love, I guess.”
