As the Rain Falls
They had fought before, but never anything like this…this was the worst fight that they had ever had in their entire two year relationship. They had both said a lot of things, some they meant …some they didn’t
She really hadn’t meant to say I hate you, she had just gotten caught up in the moment and the heat of the argument…he looked so hurt when those words escaped her mouth he left before she even got the chance to take them back…and now he wasn’t answering any of her phone calls or texts
It was a stupid fight really…she thought back on it…
“Honey does this make me look fat?” she asked him knowing that he would probably give the typical boy answer yeah baby you look great but she wanted to make sure it looked great because it was the dress she would be wearing to the premiere of his movie.
“Uhh yeah” he replied clearly distracted but snapping to attention as soon as he had realized what he had said.
“WHAT?!” that was definitely not the response she thought she was going to get
“I mean…No…” he immediately trying to correct his mistake
“JOE!”
“I’m sorry!! I was distracted…You look fantastic Emma! You always do” He said with a grin but she wasn’t going to let him off that easily
She took the fight to far, and she knew it and she was sorry for it she really was! She had no idea how she was going to make it up to him, especially if he wouldn’t talk to her
The night of the premiere had come and still nothing, she had no idea what was going on in his head. The fight had been two weeks prior and she had pretty much given up all hope that he was ever going to speak to her again.
She decided that she would take a walk to clear her head, because right at that moment it was all jumbled up and mixed up beyond all reason. She had no idea where she was going or where she was until she stopped in front of a familiar house. She stood at the front gates looking in for a while thinking about him and whether or not she should go up to the door.
Raindrops started falling and still she didn’t move. The door to the house opened and he walked out closed the door and turned around and looked her straight in the eyes…that is when she moved the second when her eyes connected with him she bolted down the street.
She heard the gate open, but she didn’t bother to look back.
“Emma! Emma! STOP!” he yelled after her
But she didn’t bother to stop, not even for him. She ran fast, but not fast enough. He caught up with her and grabbed her around the waist.
“Emma…where did you learn to run like that?” he panted still holding her
“Let me go Joe”
“No, Emma…”
“Joe, please you’ve made it very clear that you don’t want to be with me so please just let me go”
“when did I do that?”
“when you wouldn’t return my phone calls or my texts or anything!” she started to cry, the rain was starting to come down harder
“…Emma…I would never do anything to hurt you…ever…I didn’t call because I thought that’s what you wanted” he said wiping her tears with one hand but still holding on to her tight with the other
“yeah Joe, that’s what I wanted that’s why I called and texted you all those times!” she said sarcastically
“I wanted to call you, really I did…but after you stopped…I figured I should give up…Emma, I still love you and want to be with you more than anything in the world…will you please take me back?” he said, it was now pouring and they were both getting soaked. She thought about it for a second before looking at him and saying…
“Of course I’ll take you back, you silly rock star!”
He smiled at her and took her in his arms and gave her a kiss, and it was the best moment of her life.
