Chapter 002.
The buzzing of my alarm clock woke me up the next morning. I wearily held my head up and looked at the time. 8 a.m. It sure didn’t feel like it was that late. It was weird to wake up and not be rushed into rehearsals for the show. I put my feet on the floor and threw myself into the shower.
I stepped back out, after about a half and hour or relaxation and got dressed. Nothing fancy, just a t-shirt from the Bon Jovi concert and some jeans. Hollywood hadn’t changed me. I was still the same old Alex, who loved quadratic equations, always had a book in her hand, and who adored the feel of a the black vinyl when she found an old record. I didn’t see myself being one of those girls that 14 or 15 year olds looked up to. I was just a girl who loved to sing.
As I sat on my bed, with my feet up, I turned on the television. I flipped through the channels until it landed on a cartoon. I was glad to see that Spongebob was still on, all these years later. I laughed at the fact that my little brother is probably at home, watching this same thing. I was awoken from my daydream bu a knock at the door. I stood up, stretched my back, and headed towards the doorway. I opened it to find my bustling “manager”, Lisa, from the show.
“Why aren’t you ready?”, she asked in a frantic voice. It sounded as if her beeper, phone, and organizer were all going off at the same time.
“Ready for what?”, I asked in confusion. As far as I knew, I had that day off, or at least I hoped.
“For you photoshoot!”, she shouted, barging into my room.
“Photoshoot?”, wow! I was so new at this all.
“Yea, for Off Beat magazine. Get ready! You have to be there in a half an hour!” I did as I said and dressed up a bit more. I came out 5 minutes later and Lisa seemed to be more pleased.
“Better, now go! The car is waiting for us outside!” I was soon pushed out the door and into the elevator. Lisa was still looking through her organizer and kept giving me weird glances.
“Kid, you have it easy so far. If you think it’s been hard so far, you won’t last through your first album”, she said as she shook her head. That was a good pep talk before throwing me out into the world!
