hehe...well I really actually like this chapter. I know Nick really probably isn't this, I don't know, FLIRTY, but it fit with the story. And I love the part with Meech. BUt it doesn't matter if I like it...it matters what you guys think! So leave me some lovely comments, like I know you will. =]
Chapter 2
“Wait,” I started, standing up and sitting back down with my knees underneath me. “You’re Nick Jonas, aren’t you,” I stated, getting excited, a huge, goofy grins spreading across my face.
He smiled. “Darn,” he joked. “You caught me. So now I guess you can tell me your name, since I’m not a stranger,” he replied, nudging me in the side.
I pulled away and sighed. “I’m Jamie. Jamie Jacobs. And, yes, I do not really want to be here right now.”
Nick had a confused look on his face. “Then why are you?”
I rolled my eyes, then closed them. “It’s complicated.”
“I’ve got time.”
I opened one eye and saw him smiling again. “My mom works for Hollywood Records. East coast advertising manager, to be exact. I get dragged to these parties all of the time, because she thinks I’m too young to stay home alone in the middle of New York City.”
Nick stared at me, like he was thinking long and hard about something. All of the sudden I looked around and saw pictures of him and his brothers staring back at me.
“Wait, is this release party for you?” I asked, almost in disbelief. A sly grin slid onto his face and he slowly nodded. “Then what are you doing sitting here and talking to me?” I questioned curiously.
Nick shrugged. “I’ve talked to everyone out there already,” he explained. “Plus, you looked lonely.”
I scoffed. “Yeah, well, I’m not. If I didn’t have my Blackberry, things might be a little different.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Is that so?”
I nodded. “This thing has my life in it. I know I’m only fifteen going on sixteen, but I don’t think I could survive without it.”
“Do you think you could survive without me?” he asked, scooting farther into my comfort zone.
I rolled my eyes. This kid was such a flirt. But it was actually kind of cute.
“I don’t know, could I?” I repeated, playing along with his little game, sliding over so our hips were barely touching. My eyes scanned his entire body, taking everything in: his tightly fitted jeans, his purple button-down shirt that was unbuttoned at the top, revealing his chest, the messy curls atop his head. Oh, how gorgeous he looked, but I had already decided one thing: I wasn’t going to lead him on. And if that happened, I was going to play hard to get.
“Go on a date with me,” he whispered demandingly, looking into my green eyes.
“What?” I asked softly, backing away.
“Tomorrow night,” he replied, only making me more confused. “Give me your number.”
He put me under the official Nick Jonas spell. I don’t know if such thing even exists, but it sure did right then. He held my gaze while reaching for the Blackberry I had sitting on my lap. Surprisingly, I let him take it, staring at his beautiful brown curls while he took my number and entered it into his own phone.
“Thanks,” he replied, setting my phone back on my lap. “I’ll call you tomorrow,” he whispered before standing up and getting lost in the crowded sea of people.
~~~
“What in my goldfish’s name happened last night?”
I smiled at the sound of my other best friend, Meech’s voice. She came power walking into my bedroom, but I continued lying on my bed, staring up at the white ceiling above me.
“Um, hello? I’m talking to you, Miss I-got-a-date-with-Nick-Jonas,” she frustratingly stated, waving her hand in front of my face.
“I did not get a date with Nick Jonas, for your information,” I replied, sitting up.
“Oh?” she asked, crossing her arms across her chest, her long blonde hair falling just below her shoulders. “Then what do you call this?” She reached in her pocket and pulled out her phone. Quickly, she scrolled through her received text messages until she stopped on one that was from me, holding it up in front of my face.
OMFG. NICK JONAS JUST ASKED ME OUT. XD
I rolled my eyes and groaned. “Did I really say that? Because what I meant was Flip Bonus asked me out. You know, that guy who sells pretzels on the street corner?”
Meech laughed, then stopped abruptly. “Not funny. You were at another release party last night, were you not?” She had now begun pacing back and forth, as if she were a detective, questioning me about a crime I had partaken in.
“Yes…” I replied.
“And you know how much I love celebrity gossip, right?”
I nodded once more.
“Well, you’re out of luck, because Perez Hilton loves the Jonas Brothers. And you want to know what one of his blogs was about yesterday?”
I rolled my eyes. “No, actually I—“
“The Jonas Brothers new album. He also happened to mention that he was attending their release party in New York City. And I highly doubt there was a different party you went to.” Meech finally finished her little rant, her arms again folded in front of her chest.
I sighed. “Alright, so I did end up talking to Nick last night. But that does not mean I’m going out with him.”
And with just my luck, the phone rang.
