Here's a new joint from the brains of Dana and I!
Ashleigh’s POV
Don’t you just hate when your alarm clock goes off for the first time after three months of being set on permanent snooze? I sure do! But, this is my last year of high school, so it’s not so bad. I walked up to the big school and immediately saw my best friend, Dana. We’ve been inseparable since soccer camp four years ago. That brings me to the thing that rules my life. Soccer. I’m usually on the field in my free time, and the other parts are spent here at school, or coaching. The seasonal conditioning starts soon, and guess who made captain? I’ll give you a hint. She has shoulder length, brown hair. Fairly tall. 18 years old. Any guesses? Me! Normal people wouldn’t be so excited, since it entails a boat load of work, but I guess I’m not normal.
“Ashleigh! Over here!”, yelled Dana, from a group of friends. I casually walked over and stood next to her.
“Aren’t you excited? Soccer tryouts start today!”, she was very anxious. I could tell. Soccer was he whole life too, but she was only a sophomore. She still had a lot to come.
“Yea, but you better work hard. I don’t want to have to kick you off the team.”, I said jokingly.
“Oh no, not another power-hungry coach!”, she answered overly dramatically, putting her hand to her head as if she were going to faint.
Joe’s POV
New year, new school, new kids. This can be scary, especially for someone like me. I never seem to fit in anywhere. I’m not that great at sports, I’m not the smartest person in the world, I don’t skateboard, I just play my video games and my music. The band is a good start, but not when you play the guitar or keyboard. They only want clarinets and flutes and tubas. That wasn’t for me. My little brother, Nick, had found his knitch. Soccer. He had played since he was little. I played for a few years, but not anymore. I also admired his competetiveness. He wanted to win, but he was a good sport about it. I could tell that he loved kicking that ball around, so maybe I should take a note from him and get on the field?
