I used Julia from the casting call for this one. no worries girls, i obviously move fast so you may see yourself sooner than you think. anyway. i kind of went through this fast. but let me know what you think. i can always tweak =D comments are loveeee.
Sittin out here on the hood of this truck looking up,
at a caramel colored sunset sky.
Checkin my watch doin the math in my head,
counting back words to when you said goodbye.
well those runway lights are gettin` brighter
Julia slowly closed her eyes as she lay back on the hood of her beat up truck, letting the breeze take over her body. Her long curly brown hair got caught in the wind, flowing in a graceful rhythm. She opened her hazel eyes to meet with a beautiful sunset, the best ones were found out here.
It was a year to the day that she last saw Joe. She was 16 and he was 18. It was them against the world, running wild and free, young and in love. Joe would leave to go work on his career with his brothers, leaving her behind, slowly putting a strain on their relationship.
The day finally came when he told her it was over. He was going on to do bigger and better things, and she was staying a small town girl. He had to move on, and so did she. He told her goodbye as she watched him board his plane and leave forever.
Im just sittin' out here watching airplanes,
take off and fly.
tryin to figure out which one you might be on,
and why you dont love me anymore.
right now im sittin' out here watching airplanes.
Julia kept her eyes on the sky as an airplane lifted its heavy body off the runway and began its path to a new place. She found herself driving to a field located next to the small town airport to watch the sunset, sometimes the sunrise, and listen to the planes. Tonight was no exception, and she let the tears she kept locked away for so long finally break free.
I would've lied could've cried should've tried harder,
done anything to make you stay.
I wonder what you'd do if you looked out your window,
saw me runnin down the runway just like I was crazy.
that fence is too high so am I.
Each night that Julia went to the field to watch the planes fly, she asked herself why she didn’t do her best. She was an amazing girlfriend in the beginning, and together they had a great relationship. Until the days he started leaving. She didn’t make a point to call him or text him, instead she found herself waiting for him to contact her, but she was used to it being that way. Being a busy bee, he hardly had time, and slowly lost faith in her and their relationship. Meanwhile back at home, Julia was wandering off with boys from school, hanging out late at night, forgetting about Joe because he wasn’t home with her. She didn’t mean to do it, and didn’t realize how bad it was hurting him.
Each night she wondered if things would have been different if she cared more, if she had tried harder. He would still be hers and she wouldn’t be hurting every second of every day.
so I'm just sittin' out here watching airplanes,
take off and fly.
tryin to figure out which one you might be on,
and why you don't love me anymore.
by now I know you're thirty thousand feet above me,
but a million miles away, a million miles away.
by now I know I outta act like you don't love me.
She prayed that he would come back to his home town and run into her again. She prayed that he would get off of a plane that she watched land, or take off on one and see her laying on her truck from his window. But none of these prayers came true. Instead she watched him rise to fame with his brothers. She listened to rumors of his love life, hoping none of them were real.
She never let go of him and their memories. He was the best thing that had happened to her, and she let it slip away all too quickly.
but im just sittin' out here watching airplanes,
take off and fly.

She thought back to that last day. His family said their goodbyes and she stood their in tears. She didn’t want him to go, but he was leaving for good. Kevin and Nick gave her warm hugs and she watched them step into a new life.
Joe didn’t hug her, he didn’t kiss her, but she watched a single tear follow a sad trail to the ground.
“Joe, please don’t go” she pleaded, tears uncontrollable.
“I’m sorry Julia” he whispered back.
Julia knew what was happening. Joe wasn’t leaving for good just for his career. He was starting over, leaving her behind, and when she heard the words she knew were coming, she felt her heart shatter into a million little pieces on the cold hard ground.
“I don’t love you anymore”
And with those final words, he kissed her on the cheek, turned around, and stepped out of her life.
She wished she would have done better, she wished he didn’t go, but it was over. And the only way to heal her hurt was to sit out by herself by the small airport listening to the sounds of the wind and the planes in the sky.
yeah im just sittin' out here watching airplanes,
go by, by, by, by, by.
im just sittin' out here watching airplanes,
baby bye, bye, bye, bye
“Baby bye” she mumbled to herself as she got down and stepped into her truck.
It was a year ago he said goodbye, and today was the day she let him go.
