Chapter 1
I whistled as I walked down the stairs of the Jonas household, a laundry basket in hand. The house was currently empty, so I didn't mind whistling extra loud just to compensate for the noise that usually filled the air. A couple of pictures on the wall stopped me though, and I broke from my path to the laundry room to look at them for a few minuets. They were mostly family photos and snapshots of the Jonas boys when they were kids, but there were still some from recently. One in particular caught my eye. It was of Nick and I, him in a tux and me in a white sundress, standing in front of the fireplace and holding hands. It was taken on our wedding day, nearly two months prior.
But that's getting a little ahead of myself. I guess I should fill you in on exactly what happened that put us in that situation.
Nick and I had been dating for a little over three years when everything took place. We had met while doing some charity work with our mothers. They started talking and eventually called us over and introduced us. Now, I'm not going to sit here and tell you that it was love at first sight, because I believe that you have to grow into love. But it was definitely close! He was the nicest, most polite guy I had ever met in my life, not to mention the best looking!We hung out and talked almost the entire time, ending the day by exchanging numbers. Over the course of the next three years we grew to be closer than either of us had ever thought possible. Everyone always joked that we were the prime example of an "old married couple".
They had no clue, though, just how close they were from the truth.
It all happened when the guys were on tour one summer. After smooth talking my parents, they let me join Nick for the last leg of the tour.
Everyone was in good spirits when we got to the hotel that night. The concert had gone perfectly, plus Kevin and his wife Danielle had just announced that she was pregnant with their first child. After congradulating them and saying goodnight to Nick's parents, we headed to his room to go to bed.
It wasn't an unusual thing for the two of us to sleep in the same bed. We had both made promises to save sex for marriage. It was actually Nick who inspired me to start wearing a purity ring. I had made the decision long before, but seeing him wear one gave me the idea to get one as well. Plus, along with that, we had earned his parent's trust one hundred percent. And that's what sickens me about the whole thing. They trusted us. They put their faith in us that we wouldn't go farther than making out. But that's exactly what we did.
We got to Nick's hotel room, got ready for bed, and started just talking. Well, talking soon lead to kissing, and kissing soon lead to a pretty steamy make out session, and, as you've probably guessed, making out soon lead to.....more serious things. We had sex that night. We both broke our promise. No way around it. Now, it may have been wrong and one of the hugest mistakes of my life, but it would be a flat out lie to say that I didn't love every raw second of it. Nick was gentle and took things slow, showing nothing but pure love the entire time. As we made love that first time I felt closer to Nick than I had ever felt with him before. I truly could feel it in my bones that we were one.
But we still broke our promise. And that's how his parents found us the next morning; tangled up in the covers and each other. It was as plain as day what we had done, there was no guess work left for them. And after we got cleaned up and dressed you can guess that there was a heavy discussion with both our parents present.
Nick's parents were disappointed, but they tried to be sensitive to us and point out just how serious the situation was. My parents weren't as accepting. First off, my dad wanted to blow Nick's head off, but when we finally talked to him and settled him down, he was able to sit and listen as Mr. Jonas talked. My mom was a whole other story. She hardly said a word to me from the time she arrived at the Jonas house to when we left that afternoon. Barely even looked over in my direction. But I didn't notice much at the time. I was too busy clinging to Nick's hand and focusing on just breathing and blinking as we listened to the lecture on responsibility we were receiving.
I bet you can guess how the talk ended, though. Yup, Nick and I had to get married. It was pretty unanimous, actually. Both our parents were strong in their convictions on sex before marriage and believed that once you have sex with someone, it's the same as marrying them. Neither Nick or I could really argue against it. After all, we were the ones who had got ourselves into the mess.
By the time we left they had everything sorted out. Mr. Jonas would marry Nick and I at their house. It would be a quiet wedding with only family and extremely close friends. Then, I would move into the Jonas house to be with Nick, but still keep up the appearance that we were still boyfriend and girlfriend for the public. When we both turned 18, then Nick would propose and we'd go through with a public wedding and such.
So that's how it went, Nick and I were married in the Jonas backyard with only our parents, siblings, grandparents, and a couple select close friends. We exchanged purity rings instead of wedding bands, since they looked a lot alike. Plus, we did give each other our virginity.
Then, Nick was given a couple of days off for a sort of honeymoon, which we mostly spent lying in his bed wondering how we got ourselves into that whole mess.
