That was 3 years ago. Me and Joe were both twelve and Nick was nine. Now, three years later me and Joe were 15 and Nick was 12. Joe and I stood in the old tree house teasing Nick, by holding the ladder just out of his reach as he reached helplessly to climb up. "JUMP, NICHOLAS!" Joe teased as he yanked the ladder out of his reach just as he thought he'd had it. Nick sank down on the ground in defeat and glared up at us angrily. Mrs. Jonas walked onto the back porch carrying the keys to the car and her purse.
"Time to go, Nicholas!" She yelled over. Nick moved from his pouting position to face his mom.
"Where are we going?" He asked, confused.
"To get your hair cut!" She said. Nick groaned and Joe let out a short, loud laugh.
"I guess we'll see you later then Nick." He shouted down to his brother.
Nick stuck his tongue out and then sprinted off toward the car shouting "Mom, I don't need a haircut!"
"It won't take long, just a small trim. And when we come home you can play with Joe and Kirsten all you want." Mrs. Jonas replied briskly.
Joe and I both rolled our eyes and slouched against the back wall in defeat. 20 minutes later they got the call. Mr. Jonas strolled out onto the back lawn with the good news. Nick had been offered a contract as a solo artist. I tried my best to sound excited. I mean, I was happy for him of course. But what happened when he got big, and they moved to Hollywood and lived in a big mansion, and had pretty girls following them around, and paparazzi waiting at their front door, and a big body guard, and no time at all to remember their old friend Kirsten, me?
I guess I have a way of predicting the future because a year later that's exactly what happened.
I stood in Joe's room fighting back tears as he fought helplessly to shut his suitcase which was crammed full with everything imaginable. "The flight leaves in 3 hours, Kirs." He said after he finally snapped the last suitcase closed.
I nodded not wanting to give myself away if my voice shook when I spoke.
"I'm going to miss you, Kirs."
"I-I'll miss you too Joe." I said shakily as he pulled me into a huge hug. I buried my head in his shoulder and let the tears stream out. I shuddered miserably. "Joe?"
"Yes?"
"Promise you won't forget me."
"I promise I will never, ever forget you Kirs. And I promise I'll come back for you soon, and maybe even bring you a new pet puppy, since I killed your worm."
I laughed at the old memory, but my laugh soon turned to sadness as I recalled all the other memories I'd had with him. "I still haven't forgiven you for that."
Joe chuckled, but there was no feeling or sincerety in it at all. He wasn't his usual happy self.
There was a knock on the door just then "Joseph? Can I come in? It's almost time to go, honey, we can't be late for this." Mrs. Jonas said hastily.
He stepped back and grabbed my hand, and we just looked at eachother taking in the moment. "Okay mom." He said quietly. He squeezed my hand and then dropped it, and I tried my best to smile.
"I guess I have to go now." He said.
"Bye." I said.
Joe picked up the suitcases he had laying on his bed and dragged them to the door. He reached for the doorknob and turned it slowly. "Kirs?" He said dropping the suitcases and stepping towards me.
"What?"
"I'm gunna miss you so much." He said as he slowly walked towards me.
"I'll miss you too." I said
"I want you to remember me." He continued, taking another step towards me.
"I will." I promised, crossing my heart, so he knew I was taking him seriously.
"I want to give you something to remember me by." He said. Now he was holding both my hands and looking me in the eyes. Like mine, his eyes were sparkling with tears.
"Okay." I said, and then he pressed his lips to mine and put his arms around me and fireworks started to go off in my head.
"Joseph, let’s go!" Came Mrs. Jonas' anxious yell from outside his door.
Joe pulled away and looked at me. I turned away blushing. "I have to leave..." He said. I nodded and closed my eyes fighting back so many tears, and when I opened them he was gone.
okay, so, Crystal. You come in in the next chapter(:
