A one shot for Crystal...
Your Handwriting Sucks
(A Joe One Shot)
I hurried to my locker after class. A note fell out as soon as I opened it. I smiled, picked it up, and began reading:
My Dearest Crystal,
I hope all is well. I’m writing you this note during my most boring class, and I swear I’m about to fall asleep. How are your classes going? I hope to hear from you soon. I’ll be waiting for your note behind the pop machine in the cafeteria.
Sincerely,
Danger
I grabbed a sheet of paper and a pen from my locker and began scribbling down a reply.
Danger –
My classes are fine, everything is fine. I hope all is well with you.
Dare I ask…when are you going to reveal your identity? I’ve told you my name, but you still insist on Danger? Ugh. You complicate my life.
- Crystal
I ran to the cafeteria and placed the note behind the pop machine. On my way out, I ran into Joe Jonas. My books fell onto the floor. His friends laughed while I attempted to quickly pick them up. “Here, let me help you with that,” Joe offered, handing me a notebook.
“Thanks,” I mumbled.
“Joe, why are you helping her?” one of his friends joked. Joe glared at him.
“Because I’m not a jerk like you,” he replied harshly. I stood up, not wanting to be the cause of a fight. “Hey wait, you forgot this.” He stared at a piece of paper. I tore it out of his hands, not wanting him to see the secret admirer that I had been passing notes with for the past few months. He looked so shocked. I ran down the hall, far away from him.
“Hey, Crystal,” Nick greeted when I reached my locker. “Why are you in such a rush?” I handed him the note that Joe had been looking at. “Whoa…”
“Don’t tell him it’s me,” I begged.
“Uh…” I shoved the note back into my locker. “You should hear some of the things he says about you. Well, not you…but you as in the person he’s writing notes to…If that makes any sense at all.”
“Just…just don’t tell him…even though he probably knows now.”
“What happened?”
“He saw the note…”
“Hey, it’s Crystal, right?” Joe interrupted.
“I…uhm…yeah,” I choked out.
“I’ll just talk to you later,” Nick said before turning to leave. Joe handed me a piece of paper. I just looked at him curiously.
“Read it,” he said. I unfolded the paper and skimmed over the messy handwriting.
My Dearest Crystal,
I saw you today. It’s nice to know who I’m passing notes to. You know what? You’re really pretty.
Sincerely,
Joe
I smiled, turned the paper over, and wrote a simple reply.
Joe –
It’s about time you told me who you were!
…You’re pretty good-looking yourself.
- Crystal
I handed him the note and let him read it over. He looked up at me after a moment, smiling. I grinned back at him and said, “Your handwriting sucks.”
So...
In my opinion, this one shot was probably one of my worst.
Ugh.
I am NOT happy with how it turned out...
Bleh.
