Chapter 4

I didn’t move a muscle while Amy explained how she was feeling to Nick. When she finished, I was expecting him to kiss her, like in all those romantic movies. Except, she wasn’t exactly proclaiming her love, and Nick had a hot cheerleader. I wonder if I became a cheerleader, then I’d be considered hot by a Jonas?…Or, uh, anyone.

“Amy, I…” Nick looked in my direction helplessly, but I realized he wasn’t looking at me. He was looking at Joe, who happened to be standing next to me. I had no idea how that had happened.

“Can we talk in private?”

Amy’s hard glare softened a little as she nodded. She led him into the kitchen and left me with Joe. Oh joy…

“Soooo…” Joe said awkwardly.

“You have a lot of nerve showing up here,” I stomped toward Amy’s couch and plopped onto the cushion.

“I didn’t expect you to be here.” Joe didn’t follow me. Smart move.

“She’s my best friend. I have more right to be here than you. At least Amy stood by me and didn’t abandon me,” I emphasized the last part with fierce articulation.

“I’m sorry, Taiylor,” Joe took one step closer. “How many times do I have to tell you?”

“I don’t think picking your jock friends over me counts!” I raised my voice a little to match the anger bubbling inside me. “Don’t take a step closer to me! I’m going to tell you something and you better listen! If those jerks were your real friends, you wouldn’t have to keep me a secret. I am just as important as them.”

When silence settled over us, I realized I had just stood up for myself. Normally, I just sit back and take criticism, but Joe snapped something inside me.

“Teeny Taiylor never would’ve said that to me,” Joe smiled at the reference to my old nickname he had given me when I was the shortest girl in our class. Now, I’m not so teeny.

“That little girl is gone,” I mumbled under my breath, playing with the hair tie around my wrist.

“Hey ,do you remember in second grade when we used to wrap a rubber band around both of our wrists and say that we could never be separated or we’d die?”

“Apparently, that was a lie…”

“Okay, look. I am really sorry. I want to be friends again. I really do. I’ll do anything.”

“Anything?” I looked at him. “Okay, first off, if your friends see us together, get over it. We have a project to work on as classmates. Or best friends. You choose.”

Just then, Amy and Nick came back and they probably felt the tense atmosphere judging from their faces.

“Everything all right?” Amy asked, sitting next to me.

“Just peachy,” I muttered, crossing my arms across my chest.

“Well, then, are you ready to go?” Nick nudged Joe.

“Sure,” he said as he stared at me blankly. They made their way to the door and before he walked out, Joe said, “I’d choose best friend over classmate any day.” Then he left, leaving Amy and Nick shooting confused looks at me. I smiled despite the burning frustration because somewhere mixed in all of that was the happiness that I was getting my friend back. Or so I thought.

All righty. Amy's turn. Can't wait to see what you come up with :)

Chapter 5
Nick’s POV
Joe and I headed towards my Mustang; I got into the driver’s seat while Joe climbed in the passenger’s seat.
I couldn’t believe had happened with Amy and I in the kitchen.
I started the car and pulled out of the driveway slowly and head towards our house.
I wasn’t paying any attention to Joe or what he was rambling on about. I was thinking about Amy.
**Flashback**
“What did you want to talk about?” Amy asked looking at me intently from across the kitchen.
“This project, me you our friendship” I said starting at the floor as I rubbed the back of my neck kind of awkwardly.
“What about it? There’s nothing left to talk about” Amy snapped glaring at me a little bit.
“Yes there is!” I exclaimed as I advanced towards her.
“No Nick there isn’t you have already made how you felt about me and our friendship loud and clear! It’s pretty sad the only one who still talks to me regardless of the fame is Kevin!” Amy cried out as the tears started to fall again down her beautiful precious face.
It was paining me inside to see Amy cry because of me! I’m the reason Amy is standing in her kitchen with tears falling down her face.
I also knew what she said about Kevin being the only one to talk to her was true and especially how I felt about her and the friendship we had.
I wanted to take back all the pain I have caused her! I was her best friend I was suppose to protect her from harmful things.
I wanted to pull Amy into me and apologize for all the hurtful, harmful mean things I have ever said or done to her. But I knew how Amy would react to that given how things are.
I couldn’t bear to look at Amy any longer so I started to look around her kitchen, when my eyes stopped on a certain picture that was hanging up on the fridge.
It was a picture of Amy and I up at the lake on the last two weeks of summer vacation until we started high school. That night while Kevin was hanging out with Frankie. Joe was hanging out with Taiylor, Amy and I laid on the dock and looked up at the stars and made a promise to each other that no matter what happens in High School, if one of us becomes popular we will never forgot or leave the other person behind.
But once; high school came within a few months that promise was forgotten.
I looked at the picture Amy and I were smiling and we were also soaking wet from swimming in the lake. Amy’s mom Gina took that picture.
“I can’t believe you still have that picture” I said with somewhat of a small smile on my face as I looked towards Amy.
“Yeah, I wanted to take it down since we’re no longer friends but Mom won’t let me she wants to keep it up.” Amy said looking over at the picture before looking at me.
“She does know that we’re not friends anymore right?” I asked
“Yeah but she says she loves that picture, because that was when she saw me truly happy and smiling when you and I were best friends” Amy answered looking at the ground.
“But you’re still happy and smiling in the halls or in class.” I said completely unaware on the whole situations that stop being Amy’s best friend had caused.
“That doesn’t mean anything, ever since you ditched me to hang out with your new friends because you were to embarrassed by me I started to put up fronts so no one would realize how much I was depressed by you not being my best friend and anymore. Because let me tell you something Nick just because I smile doesn't mean that I'm happy because it takes one smile to cover a million tears.” Amy said softly before she turned and headed towards the living room indicating the conversation was over.
**End of Flashback**
“Nick man you come in?” Joe asked snapping me out of my thoughts.
I realized we were sitting in our driveway.
“No I have something to take care I’ll be back” I smiled as Joe got out of the car before I backed the car up and headed back towards Amy’s place
I wanted to fix this after all this was my fault.
Amy’s POV
After the boys left I looked over at Taiylor
“You okay?” I asked concerned
“Yeah I think I’m gonna go home I’ll call you later bye” Taiylor said completely unaware that she would be getting a phone call from Nick in a little bit.
Soon as Taiylor left I went into the bathroom and shut the door. Seeing Nick again and having it somewhat be like it use to with him being over here just brought me a lot of pain and I needed to somehow deal with it and there was only one way I knew that was going to work.
Right after Nick and I stopped being friends I started to cut myself but I got better and stopped but seeing Nick brought back a lot of pain I need to get rid of.
I opened up the medicine cabinet and grabbed my razor.
I put the razor to my wrist and pushed down as I pulled the blade across my skin. The pain I was causing myself was starting to feel good.
I knew I should of stopped when I started to feel woozy but I countuined to cut myself. Everything started to get dark. I knew I was due to blackout soon.
The last thing I remember before I blacked out was Nick walking into the bathroom part me of me was happy to see Nick.
Nick’s POV
Something didn’t feel quite right on my drive back to Amy’s so I hurried over to her house.
I knocked on the door and waited for 10 minutes for someone to answer, when no one answered.
I turned the door knob and the front door opened I gently closed the door before I called out Amy’s name when I didn’t hear an answer I headed up the steps.
I saw the bathroom door closed so I knew she was in there but nothing would prepare me for what I was about to see.
I opened the door only to find Amy cutting herself as she collapsed to the floor.
“AMY!!” I shirked as I sunk to my knees
“Amy wake up please wake up” I cried as I felt hot tears pour over my face.
Amy didn’t move so I quickly grabbed my cell phone out of my pocket and dialed 911 and explained everything to them.
While I was waiting for the paramedics to get here I pulled Amy onto my lap and just held her.
While the paramedics were looking at Amy went into her room and saw her phone lying on the night stand I knew I need to call Taiylor.
I picked up the phone and scrolled threw the numbers till I came upon Taiylor’s number.
“Hey Amy” Taiylor said
“It’s not Amy its Nick, long story short you need to meet me at the hospital I came back over to talk to Amy and I found her on the bathroom floor she was cutting herself” I said as I heard Taiylor sigh
“Ok I’ll be right there” she said before she hung up.
I rode up to the hospital with Amy, I called Joe and asked if him and Kevin could come up and he said they would be on their way.
I grabbed one of Amy’s hands and held it tightly as I looked down at her. This was happening to her because of me! I was the reason we were in the ambulance. When Amy woke up I was gonna apologize for everything I did to her I was going to do anything to make things right with me and my best friend.

A/N: I know this chapter was extremly long. I wanted you to see what Nick and Amy talked about in the kitchen. Please Reveiw

Here we are. I love happy chapters =) I mean, it is kinda sad of what happened to Amy, but this will make it all better.

Chapter 6

I knew there was a reason I needed to get my license; I’ve refused, saying there’s no need to get one and now there is. I figured I’d run to the hospital right away and try to get there before dark. Luckily, the rain had let up a little, but by the time I had run about half a mile, I was soaked. And exhausted. Another thing I should’ve done: track. I’ve got long legs and all I use them for is to get the junk food that my mom puts on the top shelf in the kitchen cabinet.

But I still had a pinch of luck left, if you call it luck. Behind me, a car slowed to a stop and honked at me. I spun around and through the rain-splattered windshield I saw two very familiar faces. The passenger door opened and a worried-looking Joe ran toward me.

“Taiylor, are you okay?”

“Funny. I thought you’d be the last person to ask me that,” I rubbed my arms to fight off the ice-cold rain.

“Let’s just go,” he said, taking my hand. “We need to be there for Amy.”

Joe led me to the backseat. Kevin said, “Hey,” and smiled kindly at me. Kevin is a nice boy. Joe is not, though he did find a blanket in the trunk and gave it to me.

Joe

It was a long, silent ride to the hospital. I was playing with the hem of my shirt while I felt Taiylor’s eyes digging into the back of my head. It gave me a headache. Or maybe it was the fact that Taiylor wouldn’t forgive me. Either way, my head still hurt.

“We’re here,” Kevin announced softly, pulling into a parking spot. Taiylor shoved her door open and sprinted through the parking lot. Kevin and I took our time while still moving quickly. Suddenly, Kevin stopped me.

“Joe, why do you care so much about being her friend? Do you like her or something?”

“Woah,” I said quickly. “No, I don’t like her. I just miss her.”

“Why?” Kevin asked curiously.

“Because she was a real friend. It didn’t matter what I said or did, she always forgave me. Now, I’m really hoping she’ll do it again.”

“Come on, slow pokes!” Taiylor yelled impatiently from the doors. I smiled and jogged until I reached the automatic doors. Just past them, I saw Taiylor curled up on a bench near the gift shop holding her knees to her chest. I approached her cautiously.

“What’s wrong?”

Up close, her face was white and chalky.

“I hate hospitals,” her voice shook. “I almost forgot when I heard about Amy.”

“Oh, I remember that. Like when Kevin cut my head open by throwing that slate at me. You never visited me, and I thought you hated me.”

“Back then, I could never hate you,” she said softly, looking at me. “But recently…” she added with a small smile.

“I guess I deserve this from being a terrible friend. But, please, Taiylor. I want to be friends again.”

She studied my face carefully, her eyes darting from my eyes to my lips, and then to my nose, which had always been her favorite body part of mine. When we were younger, she’d always tell me I had the perfect nose, and that a special angel had blessed me with it. Taiylor was always different like that, believing in angels, unlike a lot of the other kids who were busy thinking of just themselves. I believed in angels too, but I didn’t believe that they gave me my nose. But I did believe that an angel blessed me with Taiylor.

“Okay, of course we can be friends again,” she said.

“Wait. Really?” I grinned.

She nodded happily. I wrapped my arms around her and then pulled away quickly.

“Sorry. I forgot you don’t feel that well.”

“This may sound weird, but I’m perfectly fine now.”

My heart beat faster at those words. No one, not even her mom, could make Taiylor feel comfortable in a hospital. That’s why she’s pretty careful not to get hurt or sick. But hearing those words told me that I made it possible to face one of her fears. Which pretty much tells me that I’m her friend again.

Chapter 7
Amy’s POV
I slowly opened up my eyes as I heard the beeping sound of the heart monitor…the beeping wasn’t helping the massive headache I had.
“Ugh what happened?” I asked not expecting a response as I rubbed my head a little.
“You must have hit your head when you collapsed from cutting your wrist.” Nick answered walking over to my bed.
“Nick! What are you doing here? And where am I?” I asked shocked and confused on what was going on.
The last thing I remember was Nick standing in the doorway of my bathroom, before I collapsed I would of thought for sure Nick wouldn’t care about me.
“Your in the hospital after you collapsed I called the paramedics before I called my brothers and Taiylor to meet me up at the hospital. I rode in the ambulance up here with you. Praying I didn’t loose you. And I held you in my lap as I waited for the paramedics to come.” Nick explained as he held onto one of my hands.
I looked at Nick as the tears started to blur my vision.
Nick actually cared about me
“How long have you been sitting there?” I asked
“Since the doctors let me back here to see you. Joe and Kevin have tired to get me to leave you to get something to eat but I didn’t want to leave your side in case you were to wake up. I wanted to be here when you did” Nick answered.
“Amy I’m really sorry for everything all the hurt and pain I have put you threw. If you forgive me I would love to start over and be friends again” Nick went on
I just looked up at him “I would like that too” I smiled
“So are we friends again?” Nick asked slowly
“Of course Nicky” I smiled as I reached my arms out for a hug
“Okay Ames” Nick smiled as he hugged me tightly.
“Please don’t ever do that again you scared me to death, I thought I was going to lose my best friend” Nick said as his voice kind of broke up
“I’m sorry it was just seeing you again and talking to you brought back so much pain you had caused me. I needed to relive it somehow.” I admitted to Nick.
“I feel horrible that I’m the reason for all your pain I’ll do whatever it takes to make it up to you” Nick said as there was a knock on the door before Taiylor and Joe along with Kevin walked in.
“Amy!” Taiylor exclaimed running over to me and giving me a big hug.
“Hey Taiylor” I smiled knowing she was going to yell at me.
“What were you thinking? You could have called me I would of come. Don’t ever do that again. Please I seen you cut yourself soon after Nick and you stop being friends than you stopped and I thought you were smarter than that to go back to cutting again” Taiylor lectured me, while the boys just stood there.
I couldn’t bare to look at Nick’s face when Taiylor had let it slip that I cut myself soon after Nick and I stopped being friends
“Wait you have done this before?” Nick asked shocked.
“Yeah, right after you said you wanted nothing to due with me anymore I just lost it. I fell into a depression I often thought about killing myself” I stated.
“Amy I’m really sorry this is all my fault I never knew our friendship meant that much to you.”Nick cried as he lean into hug me again which I let him. But this time Nick didn’t move for a while.
“Nick look just being my friend again will help me get better” I smiled once we broke away from the hug.
“Okay” Nick nodded wiping his tears away.
“So are you and Joe okay?” I asked Taiylor notching how close her and Joe were to each other.
“Yeah we fixed everything we’re friends again” Taiylor smiled
“Glad to hear” I smiled as the doctor walked into the room telling me I could go home now.
“What time is it?” I asked
“It’s 9:00pm why?” Kevin asked
“I’m hungry want to go get pizza?” I asked as we headed for the car.
“Sure pizza sounds good” Nick smiled as we all go into one car.
Little did Taiylor or I know that we would run into Nick and Joe’s friends and Joe would shock everyone by what he says about Taiylor.

Here is chapter 8. I tried to get it posted so Amy could write it this weekend like she wanted. And I succeeded. I realized this story is actually pretty easy to write. Prolly cuz I don't have to think of the whole plot and everything =)

Chapter 8

“DON’T STOP BELIEVING!” we all sang out while we drove to the nearest pizza place. Amy, Joe, and I were squished in the backseat while Kevin and Nick sat up front. Kevin was the only one not singing since he had to be a little responsible while driving us. When we pulled up to Pizza Hut, and shut off the radio, I heard Joe mutter something under his breath. I followed his stare to find his three jerk friends. I grabbed his arm to remind him that I was next to him, so he better not ruin our new friendship.

We all got out and tried moving into Pizza Hut without being seen. It didn’t go over well. Me, being the complete klutz, ran right into the door that Joe was opening. My nose made a crunch noise and my hand flew up to it. It didn’t appear to be broken, but it hurt really badly. Behind us, I heard three different laughs. I turned around and saw Chace, Bobby, and David keeling over with laughter.

“Yo! Joe, Nick. What are you doing here with these nerds? Oh, hey Kevin,” Bobby patted Kevin’s back, but Kevin didn’t look very pleased to see them.

“They’re not nerds,” Nick stated softly. It wouldn’t have hurt to be a little more assertive, but at least he was sticking up for us. I was waiting for Joe to break my heart again, though.

“Whatever,” Chace shrugged. “So, you guys going to the dance next Friday?”

“Yeah,” Joe and Nick said.

“Do you have a date yet, Joe?” Bobby nudged him, raising his eyebrows. “Or are you going solo again?”

“I’m starting to think Joe is gay,” David added with a barking laugh. The other two joined in.

“I’m not gay,” Joe said through gritted teeth.

“Really? Then who are you going with?” David sassed him.

“I…” he stammered. He looked at Nick and Kevin for help and then his eyes landed on me, and they lit up like a campfire. “Taiylor,” he pulled me close and plastered a smile on his face.

“What?” they all said.

“Is this a joke?” Chace asked. “You’re going with her?”

“There’s nothing wrong with her. You just don’t like her because she’s not popular.”

“Well, duh,” Bobby said. “You don’t belong with her. My new neighbor is pretty hot. I’ll set you up with her. Then you don’t have to go on this pity date.”

Joe narrowed his eyes. “Shut up, Bobby.” He shoved him quickly and then turned away, sliding his arm across my shoulders. “Come on, Taiylor.”

I looked over my shoulder to make sure those idiots weren’t going to hit Joe. Nick was warning them to stay away for a while, Amy at his side. The waitress showed Joe and I to our table and waited for the others to come inside. Meanwhile, we talked…

Joe

I couldn’t believe I told them Taiylor was my date. I mean, she’s pretty and funny, but that would be really awkward. Besides, I didn’t even know if she was going to the dance.

“Joe, um…” she said, picking at one of her fingernails.

“Right…Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to put you in a spot like that.”

“It’s fine. It’s just…thank you,” she looked up at me and smiled.

“For what?”

“For sticking by me. I mean, you didn’t have to shove him, but it was really sweet of you.”

“Oh, well, then you’re welcome. So, you don’t mind the whole dating thing?”

“No. I’m fine with it, but I don’t have to kiss you or anything, do I?” she asked, a grin spreading across her face. I smiled with her but I felt kind of sad when I answered.

“Of course not.”

“Okay, good,” she said, just as Amy, Nick and Kevin came over.

“’Okay, good’ what?” Amy asked.

“Nothing,” I said quickly. “Just…nothing.”

Fake-dating was going to be a lot harder than real dating. Why? Because when you’re really dating someone, you already like them. When you’re fake-dating a girl, you don’t like her, but sooner or later, you’re going to feel differently and fall for her.

Chapter9
Amy’s POV
“Okay?” Nick stated knowing something was going on.
I sat there looking from Joe to Taiylor back and forth. I knew something was up.
I knew needed to talk to Taiylor later about all of this.
“So what type of pizza are we getting?” I asked picking up a menu and started to look at it.
“Pepperoni sounds good” Nick spoke up
“Let’s get that than” Joe said we all agreed on the pizza and let the waitress know than we just sat around and started to talk.
I looked over at Nick and couldn’t help but smile a little bit.
“What?” Nick asked confused
“Nothing just thinking how we used to all go out for pizza before you and Joe started to hang out with the popular crowd.” I stated.
“Those nights were always a lot of fun” Nick smiled.
“So you are going to the dance?” Nick asked changing the subject
“Um well originally I wasn’t planning on it why?” I asked curious to why Nick asked me that.
“Oh okay that’s cool” Nick smiled
“No why’d you want to know if I was going to the dance or not?” I asked
“I was just curious” Nick stated
“I take it that you already have a date” I told Nick.
“Yeah, Kelly the head cheer leader” Nick said nodding
“Well that’s cool” I smiled just as the pizza came.
I guess I was just hoping for too much when I thought Nick was going to be like Joe and ask me to the dance.
