Forget
Lyrics by Demi Lovato
Did you forget
That I was even alive
Did you forget
Everything we ever had
Did you forget
Did you forget
About me
Haley stood in the middle of the venue, trying to keep her mind on the concert she was at. But it kept drifting to just a few moments ago, when she finally realized she had lost the one she loved. They were together for almost a year, and ready to spend the rest of their lives together. But it seemed as if he didn’t want to. He loved someone else more, and left Haley standing on her own. She knew it couldn’t be true. They were perfect for each other. But as the Jonas Brothers sang their lyrics, song after song, she realized it was over.
Did you regret
Ever standing by my side
Did you forget
What we were feeling inside
No more left
To forget
About us
Her mind drifted once again, and she wondered if she wasn’t good enough for him. She wasn’t good enough for anybody, it seemed. Everyone she cared about turned against her at some point. She looked at the empty seat beside her, the one that her best friend was supposed to occupy. But she no longer had a best friend. Or a boyfriend. She turned to the stage and focused on Joe. He was so careless, yet so concentrated. He sang with such intensity, but was still so soft. She smiled. These were the boys that she had always relied on to make her happy. And there was no doubt that she was starting to smile.
But I saw where we went wrong
We were once so strong
Our love is like a song
You can't forget it
"How many of you people in this audience tonight need to find hope? How many of you need to find a friend? How many of you need to find some peace? Well, like I said that's what this song is about. And tonight, this song is for you. This song is for every broken heart in this audience tonight, for every lost dream. For every high and low, don't ever forget,” Nick said into the microphone. After finally bringing her mind off of her past love life, it rushed into her mind again. Her eyes became watery, remembering the many adventures they had had. Holding hands on the beach, swinging at the park, cuddling while watching movies. Everything came back to her, and she couldn’t help but let it out. It didn’t matter that thousands of girls may be watching her right now.
But now I guess
This is where we have to stand
Did you regret
Ever holding my hand
Never again
Please don't forget
Don't forget
Soon Kevin and Joe came out onto the stage with their guitars. Haley smiled. Joe was adorable right now. But she still couldn’t stop her tears. She looked up at the stage, focusing on Joe. His eyes wandered around the arena, until they met Haley’s. She had a feeling he was looking at her. There weren’t many other girls crying, unless they had “I love Nick!” t-shirts. His eyes fixed on hers, and neither looked away. Finally Haley looked away and bit her lip, crying more. Her boyfriend had that same look in his eyes when he tried to apologize. And she would never forget it.
We had it all
We were just about to fall
Even more in love
Than we were before
I won't forget it
I won't forget
About us
When Haley looked back up, Joe was still staring at her. He couldn’t help but wonder why someone would be alone at one of his concerts. He knew she had a story, and he wanted to hear it. Throughout “S.O.S.”, he kept glancing her way. She had tried to put a smile on her face, but it wouldn’t stay. Finally she decided she should leave to get ahead of the traffic. Joe was devastated when he saw her turning to leave. “Wait!” he yelled into the mic. The band stopped playing, wondering what Joe was doing. Nick and Kevin exchanged confused glances, while Joe just walked to the top of the stage. “You,” he said pointing to Haley. The girls around her all screamed. “In the green shirt. Come here.” All the girls looked down at their shirts, hoping they would magically turn green.
But I saw where we went wrong
We were once so strong
Our love is like a song
You can't forget it
“Come here, please,” Joe said. Haley had finally been able to move her feet. She walked up to the side of the stage where Joe was headed. He nodded at security, who helped her onstage. Joe handed his microphone to Kevin, who was still confused. “You ok?” Joe asked Haley. Her tears had just stopped coming down, and her eyes were red and puffy. She couldn’t believe that she was onstage with Joe Jonas. He had pulled her onstage. “I’m fine,” she said, wiping her face. “No, you’re not. Do you need anything?” Joe asked. “Why would you care about me anyway? I told you, I’m fine. It’s been nice meeting you here,” Haley said back.
Stop where we belong
We were once so strong
Our love is like a song
You can't forget it
Joe stood dumbfounded now, along with the rest of the audience and band. Haley looked at him for a moment, then started to head off the stage. “Wait, please!” Joe said, running after her. She turned to look at him. He held up his hand, signaling her to wait. He ran to the microphone. “Um, thanks for coming tonight. We love you,” he said. His brothers said the same, then they all grabbed each other’s hands, without even finishing the song. Nick and Kevin took their normal positions to be lowered off of the stage, but Joe ran off the side, grabbing Haley as he went. She was so confused. “Can you tell me? I really do care,” Joe asked when they got to a private place. And for some reason, she felt she could trust him. And everything she had been feeling came out of her mouth.
And at last
All the pictures have been burned
And all the past
Is just a lesson that we learned
I wont forget it
I wont forget
Us
“Wow,” was all Joe said. Haley nodded, and felt tears coming back. “I thought I loved him,” she said. Joe looked into her eyes and felt her sorrow. He wrapped his arms around her, making her feel safe. It didn’t matter to her that she would probably never see him again. That was what was so special about telling him. Finally someone knew what she was feeling, and she wouldn’t have to face him again. It was like telling a stranger your biggest secret. “Do you need anything?” Joe asked her. She didn’t respond. He grabbed her hand and squeezed it. “I don’t know what I would do if I lost someone like that,” he said. She nodded. “Will I ever see you again?” he asked. Haley thought about it. Maybe she was supposed to see him again. Maybe it was supposed to be like that. She smiled. “I hope so,” she said. Joe smiled.
But I saw where we went wrong
Our love is like a song
But you wont sing along
You've forgotten
About
Us
Joe and Haley stood hand in hand at a movie premiere. She smiled for the cameras. This was the life. She had never forgotten about her previous love. But she did push it to the back of her mind. Here with Joe, she felt safe and happy. And nothing could change that. And who knows? Maybe that boy was somewhere at home was watching her, wishing he could still have her. She smiled thinking about it. “So how did you meet?” a reporter asked. Joe smiled and nudged Haley forward. She opened her mouth to speak. “It was another boy. He forgot about me. Will I forget? Never. You can’t just erase someone from your life. But you can move on. And that’s what I’ve done.”
