“Ryan Seacrest here for E! Entertainment News. Today’s top story is about a huge coming out from a member of the pop sensation the Jonas Brothers! Our on location reporter, Kay Manning, has the story. Kay?” The video cut from Ryan in the studio to a blond, young girl outside of a restaurant. 

 

After our shocking announcement to E! and news of our engagement was released, Kevin and I became the center of celebrity gossip. The week following our engagement turned from a vacation into a jammed packed press week. We did television and radio interviews, as well as a few news conferences. At every interview, especially the press conferences, I made an appearance and would answer a few questions about my relationship with Kevin and his family, how the baby was doing, and how things had changed in my life. Since the entire world had learned of our relationship, Kevin and I were able to spend more time together in public. We could show “Public Displays of Affection” without the press raising too much drama. Due to all the publicity surrounding our relationship, Kevin made sure he stuck closer to me than ever before when we were out, fearful that the man who attacked me would try to find me again. We remained by each other’s side all the time, and whenever we went out of the bus, we were always accompanied by Big Rob (and generally a mass of paparazzo) who helped keep anyone trying to harm Kevin or me away. Kevin’s warm and protective arm was also always around my waist whenever we were together. 

After the week break in LA, the tour was scheduled to start again, so in between all the interviews, everyone was running around getting bags packed. One night, the elder Jonas family members were out at a meeting with their sons’ manager and Frankie was at a friend’s house for a sleepover. Following dinner, I went to Kevin’s room to show his a website I found about them. However, when I got to his room, he wasn’t there. I looked around the bedroom level and the main level of the house, but couldn’t find him anywhere. Panic began to set in that something had happened to him. I navigated my way through the tour-clothing racks and into the backyard, but there was still no sign of Kevin. I ran back into the house, screaming his name, only to hear no reply. As I ran from the kitchen into the foyer, I heard the faint sound of a guitar from the basement. I swung open the door and screamed Kevin’s name in hopes of hearing his voice calm my nerves. “Yeah, Babe, I’m down here!” his voice was reassuring and I sunk to the ground thankful nothing had happened to the only person able to keep me sane. I made my way down the stairs and into the basement to find Kevin, Joe, and Nick sitting in a circle as they always do when writing a song. Being the nosy fiancé I am, I questioned the group as to what they were up to. Kevin, knowing my purpose and trying to be elusive, answered for his brothers, “We’re working on a new song.”

I rolled my eyes, “I can see that, Captain Obvious!” My comment generated snaps and shouts of “Poned, Dude!” from Kevin’s brothers. His cheeks turned slightly rosy as he pulled me into his lap. He placed a tender kiss on my lips, trying to distract me from my question. I pulled away from the kiss and gave his a slight slap on his shoulder. “Answer my question, Doofus!” I said playfully. 

Kevin gave a quick glance to his brothers before replying, “You’ll have to wait until our wedding to hear the song we’re working on now, but you’ll be able to hear something else sooner. Our first night back on tour, we’re going to premier another song I wrote for and about you.”

My mouth dropped open and I pulled Kevin into an extremely tight hug. “I love how you always surprise me! I can’t wait to hear the songs!” Kevin’s lips crashed against mine and we shared an amazing, passionate kiss. We got so involved in the kiss, we didn’t even notice when Joe and Nick went upstairs. 

As the last few days passed before the return to touring, everyone was busy prepping. The boys were spending most the daylight hours doing rehearsals while Paul and Frankie worked on packing.  While everyone was preparing for the tour, Denise and I worked on wedding plans and getting things ready for the baby. For everyone in and related to the Jonas family, time flew by quickly in preparation for the tour. 

Finally, the day came for the first show back on tour. When tickets went on sale for the show at the IZOD center, due to demand, they sold out in one minute flat. I sat at the side of the stage and watched my love and his two brothers sing their hearts out for the crowd of screaming girls. After the boys finished the crowd favorite “Just Friends,” they paused and gathered in the center of the stage. Seeing that this pause was not normally part of the set, I assumed it was time to hear the song Kevin wrote for me. Kevin’s smooth voice rang through the speakers, catching all of the audience’s attention. “Right now, we’re going to slow it down a bit; it’s time to get our romantic on!” The crowd erupted into screams, assuming that it was time for “Hello Beautiful.” I smiled to myself, knowing there would be many shocked, yet excited, faces in the crowd. I saw Kevin give a small chuckle, having the same thought as me. “This is the debut of a new song that I wrote for my fiancée Erin recently; it is called ‘Sway.’” He looked over to the side of the stage at me, “Babe, will you come out here and join me?” I walked out to the center of the stage, never loosing eye contact with Kevin. As soon as I reached his side, I placed a quick kiss on his cheek. Nick pulled up a stool for me to kit on, as I couldn’t spend large amounts of time on my feet due to my pregnancy. As I sat down, I shot Joe an excited smile, barely able to hold back my excitement. Joe winked back as Nick and Kevin began strumming their guitars. Unlike in most of the boys’ songs, Kevin sang the majority of the song, harmonizing with Joe.

 

By the time the first verse ended, I was holding back tears. Once the song ended, all the tears I was holding back were released. Kevin put down his guitar and pulled me into his arms. I leaned my head against his chest, resting my head on “my spot.” He whispered soothing words into my ear as he rubbed my back, instantly calming me down. Almost immediately after I stopped crying, I began laughing hysterically at my break down in front of 20,000 people. Kevin lifted his chin from resting on top of my head and gave me questioning look. I just smiled and placed a passionate kiss on his lips, obviously conveying all of my feelings after hearing the song to him. He pulled away from the kiss, making sure that it didn’t hold up the show for too long or make people uncomfortable. He placed one arm around my waist and he used his other hand to rub gentle circles on my stomach. We looked out into the still cheering crowd. Everyone was up on their feet and some people even had tears in their eyes. I looked up at Kevin and gave him a quick smile before I walked back to my chair at the edge of the stage. 

After the show, Kevin ran off stage, scooping me up into his arms and twirling me around the little hallway backstage. While the boys and their band changed, I spent some time playing with Frankie. “You’re it!” he yelled as I moved after him. Eventually, I was able to catch up to him and I snuck up behind him. I tickled him, surprising him and bringing him to the ground. Once he stopped laughing and tickling me back, he asked to talk to me. We walked over to some foldable chairs and sat down. Frankie’s facial expression had turned from jovial to dead serious. “Erry, you love Kevin, right?”

I gave him a puzzled look, “Of course I do! Why would you ask that?”

He showed me his toothy grin, “Because I know how much Kevin loves you and how excited he is to marry you. And, I am too! I love you and I can’t wait until you’re my official sister. And, I can’t wait to meet my niece/nephew!”

I chuckled as I pulled Frankie into a hug. “I love you too, little guy. And, I’m going to tell you a little secret: I can’t wait for you to be my official little brother!” With that, I grabbed Frankie’s hand and we walked to the boys’ dressing room.
