Everything you say or do
I am always there for you
Whether you're laughing or you're screaming
No one else could take your place
I will always see your face
When I'm awake and when I'm dreaming
“Rachel, I-I’m moving.” Joe whispered as he looked into her dark brown eyes.
“Oh well, that’s okay. Where are you moving? Like, across town? It’ll be okay, I mean you won’t be down the street, but you could always fly, you are superman!” she laughed.
“Rachel, you don’t understand, I am moving to L.A. We got a record deal, and we need to go out there to work on it.” He said as a tear crept down her cheek.
“O-oh.” She stuttered as the news seeped into her brain, trying to make the realization.
“Rachel, I really don’t want to leave. I want to stay here with you, but I can’t. I mean, this is our dream.” He sighed as he saw the pain behind her eyes.
“M-maybe we should take a break. L.A. is across the country and I just, I don’t know if I can do it without you here with me.” She cried as she held her head in her hands.
“Rachel, please, don’t do this.” Joe cried as the tears began to slip down his cheeks, too.
“Maybe when you come back, if you ever come back for me. But, Joey, this is just not our time. You need to go and do what God put you on earth to do. If we’re meant to be, then it will happen one day.” She sighed as he cradled her in his arms.
“I see you whenever I close my eyes, Rachel. You will always be with me. In my dreams, in my songs, everywhere, every second. I will never forget you Rachel. Never.”
Cause I believe there's a place for you and me in this crazy world
If you come running back to me I'll be here waiting
Cause I still believe in a love worth saving
If you could see the sad look on my face
You'd be in your car headed back to my place
Come back to me, I'll be here waiting
Cause I'm on my knees and my love's not fading
If you could see the sad look on my face
You'd be in your car headed back to my place
She sat on the couch with her best friend next to her, a tub of ice cream in her lap. Her watery eyes scanned the scene as the story of The Notebook unfolded before her.
“Rachel, why are we watching this? This is not going to make you feel any better! Let’s get up and do something!” her best friend begged.
“No. I just want to sit here. I feel like half of me is missing. And guess what, he’s not coming back! So I am going to sit here until I rot because I do not see how leaving is going to get him back.” She mumbled as she pulled her best friend back down next to her.
If only she could see Joe.
He lay on his bunk of his tour bus, salty tracks leaving imprints on his cheeks as he stared at a picture of them together. He had his arms wrapped around her, and she was giggling, her curls flowing in the wind. They looked so happy then, why couldn’t they have that back.
“Joseph, we have an interview to do. Come on.” His father yelled to him.
He quickly slipped the picture into his pocket as he had done every day since the tour started. He put on his happiest face as he stepped off the tour bus and waved to all the screaming fans. He was living the dream. He had thousands of fans who loved him and would do anything to make him happy. Yet the one fan that he loved the most had left him, and his smile faded as her face filled his mind again.
I can't stand to watch you go
Cause in my head deep down I know
I don't wanna live without you
I love the way we stay up late
The way you laugh at your mistakes
I love everything about you
He held the scrapbook in his hands, the one she had made him for their six month anniversary. It had been three weeks since the day that his love was lost, and he gazed at the pictures, remembering all the time they had spent together.
There was the picture from his family’s bonfire, where she had held her marshmallow in the fire so long that when she took it out, there was no marshmallow left. He remembered how she had giggled for five straight minutes, and how when he asked her if she was enjoying it, she said that she was and pretended to eat it, taking bites out of thin air.
Then there was the picture of her before one of his concerts at a local school, where she had spelled his name wrong, writing “Joe Joenas”. He laughed as he remembered her telling him that she was thinking about him so much she just couldn’t stop writing his name. She said the thousand times on her math binder wasn’t enough.
He loved how she always laughed at herself when she did something stupid, how she brought light to even the most embarrassing situations.
“Rachel, why won’t you go with me?” Her friend, Cassy sighed.
“There is no way I am going to his concert. I cannot see his face. I am feeling sick just thinking about it. I cannot deal with this right now, Cassy.” Rachel mumbled as she rubbed her temples.
“Fine, but I think this is a stupid mistake.” Cassy said as she hugged Rachel and walked out the front door.
He stared anxiously into the audience, hoping that she had come. He had made sure that there would be a concert in her town, but to his dismay, the only person that he recognized was her friend, Cassy. Between songs he made his way over to Big Rob and asked him to get her and bring her backstage.
He made his way over to Cassy after they had played their last song.
“I tried to get her to come, Joe, I really did, but she just wouldn’t” Cassy explained, knowing exactly what he was going to say.
“Oh,” he sighed, “H-How is she?”
“Not too good, Joe. She won’t leave her house, and I really don’t know what to do, everyone is trying to get her out, but she just sits there and watches T.V. She hasn’t even read anything.” Cassy said.
No, don't wanna let you go
Girl, you belong in my heart, in my arms, in my bed
Girl, quit messing with my head
Say that you're coming back to stay right here with me
She sat on her couch yet again, watching him on Disney Channel. How had she sunk so low? He was probably having the time of his life right now. Singing his heart out to a bunch of hot girls who would go out with him in a second. She wished he was there holding her. She wished he was there making her laugh and brightening up her day. She wished she had never given up on him. She wished that she could be there for him right now as he did what he had worked so hard for.
He stared out the window anxiously as the houses passed by, the bus driver carefully maneuvering the turns on the neighborhood streets. His legs started shaking as her house came into view, and as soon as the doors opened he sprinted up her driveway and to her front door. He nervously lifted his hand up to the door and knocked gently.
After what seemed like forever, the door slowly opened and all he saw was a blur before he felt small arms wrap around his waist. He wrapped his arms around her and lifted her into the air as he felt her tears soak his shirt. After minutes of just standing there enjoying each other’s grasp, he leaned away and held her by her shoulders, taking in her appearance. The heavy bags under her eyes and red stained cheeks broke his heart and he dried them with his sleeve.
“Rachel, please don’t turn me away again. I cannot live without you, and I cannot leave you knowing that it is doing this to you.” He said, referring to her condition.
“I don’t want you to leave Joe, I want you to stay, but you can’t. I don’t care, I will do anything to make this work.” She sobbed.
“Come with me. Please. I cannot go on much longer without my other half, and I want to spend as much time with her as possible.” He whispered in her ear.
Come back to me
I still believe
If you could see the sad look on my face
You'd be in your car headed back to my place
Come back to me
I'm on my knees
If you could see the sad look on my face
You'd be in your car headed back to my place
“Okay, Joe, okay. I will. But only if we can fly through the city at night. And I get to wear your cape.” She giggled.
“What? No! Oh, fine.” He sighed as he gathered her in his arms again.
“I love you, Joe” Rachel mumbled into his chest.
“I love you, too, Rachel.” Joe whispered, kissing her forehead.

Gahh. I feel horrible because Joe was like, not funny at all.
