“Please don’t tell her, that I’ve been meaning to miss her;
Because I don’t”
Chapter 1;;
“Thanks so much for coming, this really means a lot to me” Tina whispered to Nick as he rubbed their noses together.
Reaching down to wrap his fingers with hers, he stepped closer, closing the gap between them. After he gave her a sweet kiss, he buried his face into her hair and mumbled back.
“Anything for you babe” sending shivers through her body.
A few months prior, Tina called Nick to gush about her little cousin’s birthday plans. She begged him to come home to attend, and when he agreed, she threw a whimper in her voice and asked that he and his brothers perform. He never told her no, so once he confirmed the okay with his parents and his brothers; it was set in the books.
Tina and Nick met right before the release of his first CD. There was something about his innocence and maturity that attracted her. She was a few years older than him, but nobody had cared because everyone knew that Nick was mature beyond his years. Sometimes, more mature than Tina. It had been three and a half years since they first caught a glimpse of one another, and it’s been three years since they made it official.
They spent every day they could together until the news came that it was time to tour around the US. They knew it was coming, but they didn’t welcome it with open arms. Tina spent their last night together, crawled up in a ball crying on Nick’s lap as he rocked her back and forth on the front porch swing. Their last night together had been one of her favorite kind of days. The hot summer kind, where a light breeze blows through wrapping around your body, as the scent of fresh rain lingered in your nose. When the rain is light and the thunder rumbles. Nick would come over and the two of them would rock on the swing as they watched for the birds flock to shelter, and the lightening to brighten the sky. She knew that Nick was going to be around forever, she felt that their favorite days spent together creeping up on their last night alone was a sign.
Today was different; the rays from the sun were giving off light warmth, with few people dripping with a bead or two of sweat. The breeze was entrancing as it sent a rhythm across the flowers that danced above the freshly cut blades of grass. The kids were flailing around inside the rented moon bounce, screaming and laughing.
“Where are the plates?” a voice from across the yard by the picnic tables had hollered out.
“Crap” Tina mumbled as she realized she had forgotten them on the counter.
When she turned to approach the sliding back door, Nick grabbed her arm. Placing a quick kiss on her cheek as he moved in front of her.
“You relax, I’ll get them” he said with a smile.
“Ew, you’re here?” another voice chimed in from the corner.
“Hey Britt” Tina said through a wide grin. “Glad you could make it”
Exchanging quick hugs, Brittany glanced over at Nick, his eyes locking with hers.
“Do you need help fetching those plates `tard?” she laughed as she nudged Tina in her side.
Without waiting for a response, she walked up to him placing both arms on his back and giving him a hard shove. He fumbled over him self, stifling a laugh out of Tina. She kept laughing as the two fought their way inside before walking over to the moon bounce to wish Katie a Happy Birthday.
When they both got inside, Nick turned to look out back. When nobody was around he reached out, placing a tight grip on Brittany’s arm. Tugging her hard into the corner he flung her up against the wall before he pressed his lips fiercely against hers. She threw her arms around his neck as she pushed her lips back onto his. After a few moments, they both released, a sly grin crossing Nicks mouth.
“Nick, we can’t keep doing this” she said breathlessly against his lips.
