Chapter 49:
I sat among the sea of college students, dressed in black graduation robes. I listened to the President of the school speak, as I waited impatiently for the moment I had been looking forward to for the past 4 years. I was finally graduating. My schooling would be behind me, and I could start my adult life. And to make it even more amazing, I would be starting that new life with the most amazing guy in the entire world. I was now a college graduate, and an engaged woman… life couldn’t get any better then this.
The President finished speaking, and one by one, my classmates and I filed up to the podium to receive our diplomas. My name rang through the speakers in the gym, and I stepped forward to shake the President’s hand as he handed me my diploma. I walked back to my seat, and I glanced up to where my parents were sitting. My dad was smiling proudly at me, as my mom waved excitedly in my direction. While I was glad that hey were here, there was one person who I wished was there more than anything.
Once everyone had their diplomas, we filed out together. The courtyard in front of the gym was now full of graduates and their families. My eyes darted around the courtyard in search of my parents. My eyes stopped moving when they fell on a guy. I blinked a few times in disbelief as I scanned from his black converse to his blue jeans to his white v-neck t-shirt to his aviator sunglasses and finally to the Yankees baseball hat that sat backwards on his head.
“It can’t be…” I said quietly to myself. He’s busy today… there is no way he could be here right now.
“Charlie!” I heard my mom’s voice call out, causing me to pull my eyes away from the guy. I looked over at my mom and dad, before glancing back in the direction of the guy, but he was gone.
Oh crap… am I seeing things now?
“Hi Mom! Hi Dad!” I said, walking over to them. They enveloped me in hugs.
“We’re so proud of you, Charlie,” my dad smiled, his eyes glazed with tears.
“Thank you,” I smiled shyly.
“Here’s your purse sweetie, I think your cell phone vibrated a little while ago,” my mom said, handing me my purse that she had been holding for me.
“Thanks Mom,” I said, reaching in to grab my phone. I flipped it open and saw that I had a text.
Congratulations, beautiful.
I quickly typed a reply.
How did you know that I had graduated already?
His reply came just a few seconds later.
Lucky guess, and I figured if I weren’t so lucky, you’d get the text when your graduation was over.
I didn’t even get to finish typing a response when I received another text.
I love you.
A big smile spread across my face as I typed my response.
I love you too, cutie pie. I miss you.
I miss you too. See you soon, and have a good time with your parents today.
Thanks sweetie. I’ll call you later.
I dropped my phone back in my purse, and turned towards my parents.
“Was that the fiancé?” my mom smiled.
“Yeah,” I said.
My mom and dad had both been overjoyed when I told them the good news of our engagement. Apparently, however, my dad knew it was coming, because Nick asked him for permission to marry me when we were at their house for Christmas Eve.
“It’s too bad he couldn’t make it today,” my dad said.
I guess Nick definitely isn’t here if my parents don’t know anything… and his texts didn’t make it seem like he is here.
“Yeah, you know Nick… always busy… but it’s ok,” I said, smiling weakly.
I jumped suddenly when I felt a pair of hands on my shoulders. My parents smiled at the person behind me, and a smile spread across my lips as well.
I guess I was wrong…
I spun around and my smile immediately turned into a frown when I saw Heather standing in front of me.
“Oh… it’s just you,” I said quietly.
“Wow… it’s great to see you too, Charlie,” Heather laughed.
“No! I’m sorry Heath! I didn’t mean-“
“It’s fine sweetie,” she chuckled, “I just wanted to let you know that I’m spending the night at my parents’ house, so I won’t be coming back to the apartment until tomorrow morning.”
Great… now I get to spend the night completely alone…
“Ok, I’ll see you then,” I said, hugging her.
“Bye!” Heather waved, “Bye Mr. and Mrs. Ross!”
“Bye Heather,” my mom smiled.
“Ok, are you ready to go out to dinner princess?” my dad asked.
“Yep,” I smiled, as we started off towards the parking lot.
My parents stopped at my apartment so that I could change quickly, and then we drove to the restaurant. I had a great time with my parents. It was great to be able to catch up with them. But every time I mentioned something about Nick (which was quite often) I felt a pang of loneliness in my heart.
We finished up, and my parents drove me back to my apartment. They walked me up to my door, and I hugged both of them, before waving goodbye and entering my apartment.
I offered to let them stay for a while… but they didn’t want to for some reason.
I walked into my dark apartment, and began flipping on lights. I dropped my purse on the kitchen table, and began making my way towards my room but stopped when I spotted something odd. There was a Yankees baseball cap sitting on the kitchen counter. I picked it up and turned it around in my hands.
Weird…
As I put the hat down, I froze when I felt a pair of hands on my waist. I spun around and lifted my fist, ready to punch.
“Whoa! Not again,” a familiar voice chuckled, placing his hand over my fist, bringing it back down to my side.
“Nick!” I practically yelled, wrapping my arms tightly around him, causing him to stumble back slightly.
“Hey Charlie,” he chuckled, as he slid his hand up and down my back.
“Are you real? Are you really here?” I asked, placing my hands on his cheeks, staring into his eyes.
“Yes beautiful, I’m real,” he laughed.
“Oh Nick!” I exclaimed, pulling him down slightly, so that I could pepper kisses all over his face. He laughed quietly, and grabbed my chin, stilling my face so that he could press his lips to mine. I sighed against his lips, and let my fingers tangle in his hair.
“I’ve missed you so much,” I mumbled against his lips.
“I missed you too,” he said as he pulled his lips from mine.
I pulled away from him, and looked down at what he was wearing and the aviator sunglasses poking out of his pocket.
White t-shirt + blue jeans + black converse + aviators + Yankee hat on the table = …
“You were at my graduation!” I exclaimed.
“Yeah,” he chuckled, “That was me you saw.”
“Why didn’t you come see me then?!” I asked.
“I wanted to surprise you here, but I still wanted to be at your graduation. I didn’t think I would actually get caught though,” he chuckled.
“I thought I was hallucinating,” I laughed. Nick smiled and nuzzled his nose against mine, “But I know I’m most definitely not hallucinating now.” I pressed my lips to his, and kissed him slowly.
“I love you,” I said, “Thank you so much for being here.”
“Of course, and I love you too,” he said.
“What did you have to cancel to be here?” I asked.
“Nothing.”
“Huh? But-“
“I never had anywhere to be today,” Nick chuckled, “I’ve had this surprise planned for awhile.”
“You’re so sweet,” I smiled brightly, leaning in to kiss him again.
“Anything for you, Charlie,” he whispered, running his fingers through my hair. I sighed contently and wrapped my arms tighter around his waist as I snuggled into his chest.
“I love you,” I whispered.
“I love you too,” he replied, before pressing a kiss to the top of my head.
“So, what are we going to do tonight?” I asked.
“Well, I figured that you’ve probably had a really stressful week, so I thought I would set up a nice warm bath for you, and you can just relax,” Nick said, smiling sweetly at me.
“That sounds amazing,” I smiled.
“Ok, I’ll be right back, beautiful,” Nick said before kissing me quickly and heading towards my bedroom. I heard the water running in the bathroom as I busied myself with straightening up the kitchen table. A few minutes later I heard Nick calling me. I walked into my bedroom and smiled when I found Nick leaning against the doorframe of the bathroom. He held out his hands, and I placed my hands in his, allowing him to pull me into the bathroom.
My eyes widened as I glanced around the small room. Nick had lit tea lights in various places in the bathroom, creating a dim romantic glow. The tub was full of bubbly water, and a fragrant smell was emitting from it. I reached up to cup Nick’s cheek, and pulled him in for a slow kiss.
“You’re amazing,” I whispered. Nick smiled shyly.
“Enjoy your bath. I’ll be in your room if you need anything,” he said.
“Ok, thanks cutie pie,” I smiled.
“You’re very welcome.” Nick left the bathroom and I quickly undressed before sliding into the tub. I let the warm water surround me, washing away all of my graduation stress from the part week. I sat in the bathtub for a while, occasionally playing with the foamy bubbles, until I realized something very important was missing.
“Nick!” I called out. Just moments later the bathroom door swung open, and Nick stepped in.
“Hey beautiful, how’s your bath going?” he asked, before kneeling down next to the tub.
“Great,” I smiled.
“What did you need?” he asked. I didn’t answer, but simply leaned over the edge of the tub to pull Nick in for a sensual kiss. I slid my wet hand down his side and gently tugged on the bottom of his shirt.
“What?” Nick questioned as he removed his lips from mine.
“I’m really lonely in here,” I smirked as I gently played with the curls on the back of his neck.
“You want me to…”
“Please…” I pleaded, “I’ve spent a week without you… I don’t want to spend anymore time apart.”
“Are you sure you want me to?” he asked.
“Of course!” I giggled.
“Ok…” Nick said, sounding slightly uneasy.
“Only if you want to though, sweetie,” I said.
“Oh I definitely want to,” Nick smirked as he stood up. He pulled his shirt over his head, and moved his hands down to undo his jeans. He slid both his jeans and his boxers down his legs and I swallowed a moan as I scooted forward. Nick stepped into the bathtub, and slid down behind me. I moved back a little bit and snuggled into Nick as he wrapped his arms around me.
I let out a happy sigh as I relished in the feeling of Nick’s strong body pressed against mine. He brushed my hair to the side and pressed a kiss to my shoulder.
“So… my baby… is a… college graduate,” he said as he ran kisses from my shoulders up my neck.
“Yep,” I giggled.
“You’re all ready to start your life now,” he said.
“Mmhm… and the greatest part is that I get to start my life with the greatest man in the entire world,” I said, craning my neck to look up at him.
“Oh really?” he smirked.
“Yeah, I’m getting married… didn’t you hear?” I giggled.
“Ugh… seriously? What a lucky dude! What’s his name?” Nick asked, doing his best to keep a serious expression on his face.
“Whose name?”
“The guy you’re marrying, so that I can kick his butt for stealing you from me!”
I giggled and turned slightly so that I could wrap my arms around his neck.
“Well… his name is cutie pie,” I smiled, “But please don’t kick his butt.”
“Why not?” Nick pouted.
I ran my fingers through his hair, “Because he’s the love of my life.” A smile cracked across Nick’s lips and he leaned in to kiss me.
“I love you Charlotte,” he whispered against my lips, as his hand ran around the back of my neck.
“I love you more than life itself, Nick Jonas,” I said, as I moved so that I was kneeling between his legs with my arms still around his neck. I kissed him slowly as my hands tangled in his curls and his hands slid down my sides to rest on my hips.
“Charlie,” he said, as I trailed my lips down his neck, my hands rounding his shoulders.
“Mmhm?”
“I’m ready…”
“Ready for what? To get out of the bathtub?” I questioned, pulling away from him.
“Well yes… but that’s not what I meant. I’m ready to give myself to you… all of me,” he said.
“You mean-“
“Yes.”
“You’re sure?” I asked.
“Charlie… we’re getting married. What’s the difference between now and our wedding night?” he questioned.
“Nothing I guess,” I said quietly, “I just want to make sure your brain is still in here,” I tapped his forehead, “and not down there.” I pointed down at the water in the tub. Nick didn’t say anything, but instead just stood up, pulling me with him. He helped me out, and wrapped a towel around me before wrapping one around his waist. He quickly blew out all the candles, immersing us in darkness. He found my hand, lacing his fingers with mine, and opened the door.
My bedroom was glowing from more candles, and I glanced around my room to see that my bed had been sprinkled with rose petals. Nick reached over to press the play button on my cd player, and the sound of Frank Sinatra’s smooth voice rang through the speakers.
It was immediately obvious that this was not a spur of the moment decision. Nick’s brain was neither between his legs, nor in his head. It was in his heart; his heart that belongs completely to me.
“When did you do all of this?” I asked.
“Right after I left you alone in the bathroom,” he said.
“So you’ve had this whole night planned?”
“Mmhm.” I reached up to cup Nick’s cheeks, pulling him down for a sensual kiss.
“I always think you can’t possibly get any more amazing… but you consistently blow me away,” I said, smiling up at him.
“Be prepared to really be blown away,” he smirked as his hands slid down my sides.
“Wow… confident… that’s kinda rare for you,” I giggled, before bringing my voice down to a husky whisper, “But incredibly sexy.”
“I’m completely confident that I’m going to have you screaming all night long,” he whispered, his lips just barely brushing against mine. I could feel a blush spread quickly across my cheeks, as my eyes widened slightly.
“Um… wow… I’m looking forward to it,” I said. Nick smirked as his hands moved to the opening of my towel. He slowly unwrapped it from my body, letting it fall to the floor.
One of Nick’s hands slid down my side, while the other cupped on of my breasts. I arched my back into Nick’s touch as his hips attached to my neck. He nibbled on my sensitive skin and slid his hand over my butt to rest on the back of my thigh. He lifted my leg and wrapped it around his waist. I could feel his need for me growing under the towel around his waist, as I ground my hips against his. I quickly yanked the towel from around his waist.
A low moan emitted from me, and Nick used his other hand to lift me up so that both of my legs were wrapped tightly around his waist. My arms snaked around his neck as my lips crashed down on his. His lips stayed connected with mine as he took a few steps toward my bed. He held onto me tightly, so tightly in fact that I thought he was never going to let go… and that was perfectly fine with me.
He laid me down on the bed, and crawled over me as I scooted back towards the headboard. Our lips only parted every so often so that we could breath. Nick’s hands ran all over my body, and I did the same to him. My fingertips traced the contours of his abdomen before sliding over his chest. My hands rounded his shoulders and moved across the strong muscles in his back. I placed my hands on his perfect ass, and squeezed him gently. Nick chuckled and sucked roughly on my bottom lip. I pulled his hips closer to mine, and Nick moaned against my lips.
“Anxious?” Nick questioned.
“Baby, I’ve been waiting for this moment for 10 months now,” I giggled.
“Oh yeah right,” Nick rolled his eyes, “so you’ve wanted to sleep with me ever since we started dating?”
“Wait… scratch that. I’ve been waiting for this moment for more than 10 months… since before I even met you,” I smirked. Nick chuckled and nuzzled his nose against mine.
“I love you,” he smiled, kissing me softly.
“I love you too,” I replied, deepening our kiss.
It’s amazing that things just managed to go from hot and heavy to perfectly sweet in a matter of seconds. That’s just the amazingness that is Narlie.
“Nick…” I said, breaking the kiss,
“Yes beautiful?”
“Make love to me,” I whispered.
A smile spread across Nick’s lips, “With pleasure.” He dipped his head to run kisses down my neck, over my collarbone, between my breasts, and all the way over my stomach. He stopped to gently nibble on my hipbone. I sighed contently and Nick pulled away, moving back up my body.
He stared into my eyes, as he brushed my hair out of my eyes.
“Are you ready?” he asked.
“Definitely,” I smiled, “Are you?”
“Absolutely,” he smiled back. Nick pressed his lips to mine in a loving kiss, before positioning himself above me. I tangled my fingers in his hair and let out a gasp as he slid into me.
He quickly slid out of me, and rolled over. I snuggled into his side, and placed kisses all over his bare chest.
“I… uh… that was… it…” Nick stammered, unable to form a complete sentence.
I placed my index finger to his lips, “You don’t have to say anything. I know.”
Nick chuckled, and held me tighter to him. I looked up at him and smiled lovingly. He smiled right back, his fingers running through my hair.
“I love you, future Mrs. Jonas,” he said.
“I love you too, Mr. Jonas,” I smiled.
Nicholas Jerry Jonas and Charlotte Marie Ross. He is mine and I am his is. Forever.
