Twenty Three
I’ll sing for the broken hearted, I’ll sing for the dreams that won’t come true
I had received a text from Nick to meet him at the pier so here I was was but no Nick... Once he arrived at the pier, Nick could see me standing patiently on the boardwalk. I was wearing a blue sundress, my hair down and natural, dark natural loose waves, he walked up behind me and covered me eyes with his hands. “Guess who!”
I laughed, he pulled his hands off my eyes. “Good to see you.” I told him as him pulled me into a hug.
“You too, have you been waiting long?”
I shook her head and told him I had just arrived. We spent a while walking along the boardwalk, chatting and laughing as we strolled. The two of us bought ice cream for each other from the little shop we passed. Nick accidentally dropped his entire ice cream cone in the sand which made me laugh hysterically. But, of course, I ended up sharing my ice cream with him.
After taking off our shoes, so they wouldn't get all sandy, Nick and I headed down to the beach.
“So, uh.. how are things with Jacob?" he casually as we walked along the shore.
I sighed “Um, good. I mean, it's definitely not perfect, but what relationship is?”
Nick wasn't convinced “He treats you good?"
“Nick, I'm a big girl, you don't need to take care of me” I joked.
“No, I know that. But you deserve the best."
I smiled over at him. "Thanks, Nick."
We walked along the sand quietly for a moment. And then Nick suddenly broke the silence. “Aim?” I looked over to him as he looked over at me and tried to keep his composure. I blushed when all his thoughts were revealed to me, ‘The way the sun shone on her face, the way her long brown hair flew lightly in the wind, her hand gently brushing his as they walked..’. it was almost too much for him to handle. “Ready to head home?"
I sighed, I felt like he was about to tell me something important. “Yeah”
