We were once so strong
"We're twins of course" I replied smiling as I checked her charts. "Miss. Doberman, you're progressing quite well lately" I said looking at her. "You should be out by about oh, let's say, latest, Wednesday next week"
The brunette haired sixteen year-old girl smiled. "Well thanks Dr. Dartson" she replied as she brushed a strand of brown hair from her face.
I nodded, placed her clipboard back into the pocket infront of her bed and walked out, closing the door behind me. Being a doctor was challenging. Especially if you were one of us. Being.. well.. it's difficult. I walked downstairs into the lobby and up to the receptionist's desk.
"When will they leave?" I asked under my breath so that no one could hear.
The raven black haired girl looked up at me from her paperwork. She then looked at the far corner. "Oh, them?" she asked quietly.
I nodded. "It's becoming quite difficult working when an over protective family is constantly here 24/7" I replied. "I know they care, but they need to trust us"
The girl, who's name was Teresa chuckled. "Steen" she began. "I still can't believe you and your sister chose to be doctors" she said. "One small mistake, and you girls could end up on the streets"
I snorted in disgust at even thinking of Aimee and I on the streets. We were two of the best doctors in the world. But part of me agreed with her. If either of us did one small mistake, it could end up terribly bad for the both of us.
Teresa sighed. "Don't you get.." she trailed off.
I looked at her for a few seconds before it hit me. "No" I said smoothly. "We don't. Even if we did, do you think we would be here?" I asked with slight anger in my voice. "We're not who we used to be Teresa. And you should know that"
Teresa's blue eyes widened. "Y-Yes, of course. I'm sorry" she replied as she looked back at her papers.
I smiled and looked around. "Where is my twin sister anyways?" I asked calmly, curiosity returning in my voice. "Has she disappeared?"
Teresa chuckled lightly, making the corner of my mouth pull up into a slight smile. "On the third floor" she replied.
I nodded and made my way to the third floor. Once I got there, the overwhelming scent of fresh blood sent shivers down my spine. It caused my face to twitch as I searched for my sister. I found her inside a dark room, alone and walked in.
"Aimee?" I asked quietly turning on the light. She looked at me with wide eyes. Next to her, I noticed a white sheet covering a big lump. My dark chocolate brown eyes went back to Aimee.
"I killed her" she whispered, her face looking extremly paler than normal. "I..I lost it.. and.. it.. it tasted like magic.."
I sighed and walked over to the body. I lifted the top slightly, to observe the damage. I then placed the sheet back on.
"Aimee" I said. "You know how bad this'll look right?" I asked. "If anyone knows, we could be fired. Worst yet, we could die"
She nodded her head. "I know. It's just.. I forgot to.." she trailled off. "Eat"
I sighed and stood up. "I have a seventeen year-old boy that broke his leg in a football game. Go tend to him while I dispose of this body. We will never mention this to anyone, udnerstand?"
Aimee nodded quickly, wiping her tears and stood up. She walked to the door and walked out leaving me alone.
