I can't post this anywhere else without getting yelled at. Lol. If you are a newer fan reading this, please don't take offense.
I was thinking the other day about how the fans from the pre-megafame days react to the boys and how the post-megafame fans react to them.
I think the longer you've been a fan of them, the more chill you are when it comes to them because I guess we see them more as the guys from Wyckoff than these untouchable almost gods. The newer fans seem to be the insane ones that the guys mention in interviews. Running on the highway after their bus? Crying hysterically when they meet them? Thinking they really have a chance to date one of JB? I know I wouldn't do that. Almost half the new fans (like last 6 months or so) seem to be fake fans. I am by no means saying all of them are. I have three friends who started liking them around the BOBW tour and they are dedicated fans. But there are soooo many fake fans now :/
And I wish there was a way for the fans who have been around longer to get to meet the boys first and then the newer fans could get their chance. I'd be lying if I told you I was happy for every person who posts a thread either here or on the fanclub talking about how they met the boys, once, twice, five times. I haven't met them once and I know a bunch of you haven't either. It's kind of a bummer. I know my time will come eventually and I've been patiently waiting but it's so hard! :(
I love the boys with all my heart. Their music has helped me through soo much. I support anything and everything they choose to do but it's been harder and harder for me to be as thrilled for them as I used to be. I was comparing just a year ago to now. Concerts, magazines, fans. Everything's changed. It's great for them. I'm sure they're very happy with how life's going for them, and they should be. I just wish that for a week, we were back to just last summer and maybe even before that, without all the insanity surrounding them. I missed so many opportunities to meet them because I figured I could meet them the next concert, which never happened. And I know it's selfish but sometimes I wish they weren't that famous anymore. I bet I'll feel bad for writing that when I re-read my post tomorrow morning. Lol. But sharing them with these "fans" (reminding you that I don't have something against all the new fans, just the new fake ones)... gets tiring.
But no matter what, they're my boys and I'll support them through thick and thin <333
Oh and I'm not trying to start a war between 05-06 fans vs. 07-08 fans like what's happening on the fanclub. I'm just pointing out something I noticed. Maybe it's just me who sees it that way, let me know if I'm being unfair.
EDIT (9/5) : Okay, no one take this thread the wrong way. I created it with the intention of just sharing an observation I made... that the longer you've been a fan, the more chill it seems that you are when it comes to them. Every true fan is a fan. We're all equal. It's just that sometimes I wish we (older fans) who have never met them, get a chance before the people who became fans a little while ago. Seriously no disrespect. One of my best friends met them last Sunday and she's only been a fan since December. She's totally devoted to them and I was so happy that she got that chance, but there was a part of me that thought I deserved to meet them first, and she even agreed with me. Lol.

i completely understand where u r coming from, sure i havent been a fan forever (since october/november), but i completely understand how u think that a bunch of the fans today are fake fans. the other thing i really am getting mad at is a bunch of the younger fans who like them mostly cuz of disney, that was the way that i found out about them, but i would like them just as much if they werent on disney.
i could go on forever about these kinds of things, but i wont
btw, i dont think u were being unfair
thanks laura for the jonas one

I've actually felt the same way for awhile now, and I've been thinking about it too.
I've been a fan since 2006, which wasn't that long ago, and when they had concerts back at that time, I couldn't afford the tickets at all. I actually was able to gather enough money over the summer to go to a show, and my seats weren't even that good because the show sold out in a heartbeat. This wouldn't have happened two years ago, would it? I was actually counseling Bible Camp for third graders that week, and while talking to them, and I found out that even the eight-year-olds had better seats than me. They came to camp the next day with pictures of them with the actual boys. Sure, I was jealous, I'm not going to lie, but sort of frustrated with it all. I wish I had gotten my chance earlier to go to a few shows, because I feel that now I lost my chance ]=
But still, I'm glad for the boys. I mean, if it weren't for their thousands of fans, they wouldn't be where they are now. Although, yes, I agree, it gets a little annoying sometimes. Just give them five years and then we'll all get our chance :D
edit: I've been thinking of this topic for awhile now, and I began to realize that at my school, there's a ton of fake fans that began "obsessing" over them just as Camp Rock was released. They're also the richer ones, so they love to come to school showing off their new Jonas Brothers merchandise, bragging about how their daddy bought them front row tickets, showing the whole school the pictures they got with the boys, etc. I think that they think just because they have the MONEY to do that kind of stuff means they're a true fan. This is at least what I observed. But of course, I'm still in Junior High, so it might only applies to the younger preteens? Like when I went into the mall the other day, I saw a girl crying because she couldn't get the Jonas Brothers shirt she wanted.

You guys have really said everything I've been feeling for the past few months. I've been a fan since 2006, I didn't watch MTV in 2005, my parents wouldn't let me, but once I saw 'Year 3000' I imediately became a dedicated fan. I never got "It's About Time" but I always get mad at myself for never getting it since you can't get anymore, unless you want to pay $350 dollars for it, and I can't afford to cough up that much money. I've been to two concerts this year and was on the floor for both of them (thank goodness for my moms connnections!) but I've still never met them. And I know that there are many people out there who have been fans for much longer than I have and deserve to meet them before I do, but I just wish that all of the "fake fans" would stop getting to meet them. You see all these little kids going around bragging about them and getting completly hysterical and it's just, like, annoying.
I love the boys and completely support them in any way possible, but I do agree with you guys when you say that you wish things were back to the old days. I know the boys deserve everything that they have and I am so happy for them, and I feel selfish saying all of this and I know you do too, which is slightly comforting knowing that I'm not the only one, but I think something should be done about this. I just wish the guys really knew what was going on, maybe then, some of this crazyness would stop.
I have a really good fan email to them, that they have responded to one of my friends before...so maybe I could send something to them? Do any of you mind if I put some of your concerns in the email? Thanks for posting this thread, it needed to be done. Sometimes I just need to vent.

I completely understand where you're coming from, and I don't think you're being unfair at all. I will admit that I'm a 'new' fan (I've only liked them for about a month and half!) but when I become a fan of someone, I'm literally obsessed. I'm more obsessed with these boys than I've been with any other band or artist. They are basically my life right now. :-)
While I admit that I am a 'new' fan, and I would love to meet the boys someday, and yes, I would definately be interested in marrying Nick Jonas one day, (or Joe... or Kevin...) I realize that the older, diehard fans that have been with them from the beginning definately deserve to meet them. I know that I'm jumping on board right when everyone else is, and it actually kind of bothers me because I'm usually into someone before most people are. (Taylor Swift, for example... I was obsessed with her before the boys and I liked her for a very long time... but after I already was obsessed she got big.) I wish I had given the boys a chance earlier so I could be taken a bit more seriously as a fan, because I've done my homework and seen all the things the old fans have seen from the earlier years. I agree that there are definately fake fans out there that just have money or just like them for their looks, but I'm not like that. I totally agree with everything you said, though... I think all the older fans should definately get more credit than they have now. :-)

wow i 100% agree with you. i've been a fan since 06 and i never got a chance to meet the jonas brothers. theres this group of fake fans im my school that call themselves obsessed but they DONT EVEN LIKE KEVIN!! i find that sooo frustrating. you can NOT be a real jonas brothers fan without loving ALL THREE BOYS!!! i cant stand fake fans.
Hello Beautiful,
How’s is going? I hear it’s wonderful in California. Well, its 7:05 right here in Australia. I only have 6 Minutes to write this letter, so please Hold On and read it. I’m sending out an S.O.S to you because although we agreed on being Just Friends, I’m Still in Love With You. You Just Don’t Know It, but you’re What I Go to School For. When You Look Me in the Eyes, I have to remember to Take a Breath, so I don’t pass out. You’re my Eternity, and I could never Move On. Think about it, in the Year 3000, our Kids of the Future could be playing crazy Games in Hollywood because That’s Just the Way We Roll. But for now, I’ll just take it One Day at a Time, because even though I may be an Underdog, I Am What I Am. Well, It’s Time for Me to Fly, so I better wrap things up. So please, oh Please Be Mine. We could be Inseparable. Also, I’d really Appreciate it if you Don’t Tell Anyone about this letter.
Love, Mandy

i agreee.
i would never say this anywhere else, but i'm hoping you guys understand and i don't yelled at.
but, i really do think the older fans are better then the newer ones, hmm, idk, i think i worded that wrong.
but we know their real personalities and where they come from, and them as kevin joe and nick not as the jonas brothers.
the newer fans don't, sure they can go watch some old videos of them, but it's not the same, they didn't grow up with them, well i didn't, but i mean growing up as a band.
and i hate when i see someone that's been a fan sicne 05 or 06 and hasn't met them yet, but someone who's been a fan for a month gets to.
yes, i know, EVERY FAN IS FAN. i believe that, but it's not fair.
but i know when the jonas brothers die down and aren't insanely famous anymore, the older fans are most likely to be the ones that are still sticking around.
i hope i didn't come off harsh, that wasn't my intention.

You didn't come off as harsh at all. I don't think any of us have. We're just speaking our minds and we have all the rights to do that.
All the younger kids and the "new" fans think of them as the 'Jonas Brothers', and that's it. To them Nick, Joe and Kevin are Godly creatures, they're not. They're normal people just like you and me. And the older fans can tell you that, they're normal guys, and you can tell when they say stuff like "I want people to think of me as Just Nick." that they want to be normal guys. I've heard them say stuff like that before. They're aren't some untouchable force, they want to be normal and live they're dream at the same time. And as far as the older fans can tell, they are. We love them for who they are, not what they are.
And for people hating on Kevin, it needs to stop. If you don't like Kevin, you're not a real fan. You have to love all of the boys to be a true fan. Some of the kids I babysit are "fans" but they're always saying, "I don't like Kevin, he's ugly." and other things like that and it makes me mad. Kevin is so not ugly. So he's not the best looking guy in the world, or the best looking Jonas...it doesn't matter. True fans can get past their looks and see who they really are. Their music speaks to people, but only the real fans can actually understand the meanings or can dig down deep and hear what Nick, Joe and Kevin are trying to say. We actually care about the contents of the music, not just that it's danceable or it has a good beat.
And I'm not saying that "new" fans can't be die-hard, true fans either. Because some of them are, but the majority are not. And you can tell the differences between who is real and who is fake. But for the most part, it's the older fans who actually appreciate them as human beings, not some big-shot rockstars. We love them for simply just being them, the three lovable brothers from Wyckoff, New Jersey. And when it comes down to it, they really are just three normal boys, with extraordinary talents. And that's all that really matters.

I totally argee with you. I've seen so many times, people would cry when meeting them. Have you see TRL ? Sometimes I would wonder if they would like have some blast to the past and like jam out to all their old songs. Like please be mine or mandy. They've gotten so far in life and they're awesome boys. I argee with you with the meeting part. It's so hard to go to their concerts or even meet them. They're tickets are sold out instantly. Its insane. and I hate it. my chances to even meet them are slim to none.
I feel you girl (; ♥

I've actually been thinking that for a long time now. I mean, I started liking them in late 2006- the very day the Year 3000 music video played on Disney. I was insanly in love with them within about 10 seconds.
The thing that really bothers me is that some of the oldest fans (like a year or longer) STILL haven't met them. I mean, with all the fans, it's getting harder and harder to meet them all.
Guys, we should start some kind of club for the old fans like 06 and back. Anybody up for it?
Thanks Jenny =]
